Adebayor

What winger was on the right after SWP went off? Ireland kept cutting inside meaning we had no width on the right unless Ade went out. If he had stayed in the centre Richards would have been ineffective going forward too.

LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE!

what bigger picture? we have a centre forward playing as a right winger!

No, we have a player that came on and wouldn't stick to his position which was causing problems for our own teams shape.

But because that player is STEPHEN IRELAND, Ade gets the abuse.

See both sides to this. On his day he's world class but like freestyler said since the Arsenal game he's been different. I can't remember him playing so wide and deep for Arsenal. We have a similar type of midfield to the Gunners, very mobile and quick on the counter attack. Maybe Ade should just stay upfront, lead the line and sit around the 18 yard box for the one two's with Bellers, Tev and Ireland.

But then doesnt that come down to Hughe's sub decisions? Surely Robinho or even Petrov could have come on, as they are more natural wingers..

And no, im not a Hughes outer.

So why are our fans giving Ade shit for it then? Thats what im trying to point out. If Ade hadn't gone wide we'd have had no width down the right and an attacking option gone.

I dont know, i agree he didnt play well, and effort was little for most part of the game, but i think Hughes or even Barry or one of the defense should have organised the team better, i mean surely one of the players could see we were playing with 3 CM's and no winger, I dont know, communication seems poor IMO aswell.

does anyone want hoof-it -long football? Surely not.We could have signed a conventional plank-type player as a target but chose a footballer instead and its up to the coaching staff to make sure the ball is played out from defence on the ground. The team is top-heavy in that all the skill-players are up front and we have ordinary defenders who are not going to get any better. Because adebayor was a MH signing the criticism he gets is entirely predictable, but saying the arse fans were right all along and he doesnt try or care is a grudge too far.Keep it on the deck , move it quickly and get the best out of our team, otherwise lets get kevin davies and hoof it up the middle, and cheer when he fouls 'trying to get the ball' .Well at least he has good body-language and celebrates properly

For all you that slagged him yesterday;

1. He was the reason City scored the first goal. His pressuring of the Bolton defender led to us gaining possession
2. Held the ball up superbly and dragged his defender out of position to make the space for Richards to score.

Someone actually called him Lazybayor yesterday. If he was that lazy we wouldn't have got back on level terms first time round!

Very noble post, no need to slag the lad at all. Just like there was no need to start a thread about a player that made a 10 minute cameo.....

I saw that, and thought likewise.

He doesn't have to run around at 100 mph to be effective. We need to play the ball into his feet a lot more instead of using his height.

absolutley spot on!
