I am stunned that there are still people who believe that Roberto Mancini has under performed with us. He took over from a tactically inept manager who had spent a quarter of a billion pounds on a mixture of players who did not gel, and in a lot of cases were not cut out for a successful dynasty -in some cases they were just more bother than they were worth and in others simply not good enough - the former including Adebayor, Robinho, Bellamy, the latter including Bridge, Jo, RSC, Given (no offence to Shay, a good guy and good keeper but Hughes had basically fucked off Hart for him).

Bobby took that over, he has pretty quickly sorted out the poor performers and the poor attitudes, and transformed us into title winners in only his second full season. He has transformed the whole attitude of the playing side of the club, and turned us quikcly into winners. Yes he has spent a lot of money, but probably actually less than Hughes did (although I am too pissed to add the numbers up) and a fair degree of it has been the "City premium" but he has by and large got it right, and we now have a team of winners.

I think someone on here slagged him off for the fact we lost at Everton - fucking hel everyone has the odd dodgy resultl, the scum lost at home to Blackburn and drew at home to Everton, are we saying their manager is completely fucking useless - I hate the **** with a passion, but he isn't really, is he?

Why cant people accept we have a manager who is successful, who is a winner, who has made a huge amount of progress in 2 and a half years, and is very likely to continue to do so? We can either embrace him (as 98% of City fans have done) or we can mutter that "we should have won at Everton and we did not do very well in the CL" (10 points in a veritable group of death was hardly shit was it?) - I know what I am doing - thanks Bobby, I am 53 years old and I am optimistic as a City fan for the first time in almost 40 years - sorry I am pissed but the negativity of some people drives me fucking mental

Fucking hell BBS,if you`re pissed and wrote that, then you should drink far more often mate.
Fully agree with everything and God knows what some of these people are thinking, when they slag Bobby off, accusing him of spending millions and only winning the PL on goal difference.
Who gives a shit ? Well not our Owner, nor Khaldoon, otherwise his 5 year contract would never have been signed by them.
Bobby has made mistakes and I bet he realises that himself, but its mistakes that you learn from and then turn those negatives into positives, which in turn has already turned the Clubs fortunes around.
Well done Bobby and thank you Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon for trusting our popular and winning Manager.

cheers, got the hangover to go with it now. I would add that of the games we lost last season:-

Chelsea away we were absolutely bossing, at 1-0, were then denied a stone wall penalty by Twattenberg which with Mario on the pitch was 2-0, and doubtful we would have last from there

Sunderland away - absolutely battered them but just could not score, then lost to a last second offside goal;

Everton and Swansea - played very poorly in both (does any team not play badly a few times a season?) BUT in both cases the refs were atrocious (Walton and Mason) and made it really difficult for us to have any pattern to our play, which DOES make a difference

Arsenal away - well and truly stuffed, deserved to be beaten

Bayern Munich - 2 clear pens before they scored could have made a difference (admittedly played poorly after that, but this is bayern fucking munich away

Napoli away - lost in a hostile atmosphere to a very good side, it can happen - the eventual winners got a bigger beating there

scum in fa cup - hit badly by ACN and no Barry, Dzeko, Mario available from memory - I think most would say we did very well that day after a clueless performance from another clueless ref

Liverpool Leage cup - they shaded it over the 2 games, again ACON and Mario missing etc and not sure Bobby took it as seriously as Dalglish

Compare the above against some of the superb football we played in so many games, then I am really struggling to understand the downer on Bobby - yes we lost a few games, and yes Bobby made the odd mistake, but who doesn't (apart from nipholmes of course). Anyway fuck this I am off for another pint of water!

I split the thread when it went off topic and I've renamed it and put it in the main forum.

With that in mind, can we keep this thread about Ade and put all talk about Roberto in there.

Gentle reminder....

Hey why don't we do something completely out of the blue and you know use Adebayor...? The same striker who scored 17 goals and got 11 assists for Tottenham last year.

I never understood why we bought Dzeko when we already had him. Using him would make sense but the bust up between him and Marcini was enough to see him banished so its a no go.

The reason is obvious to anyone who cares to look. Ade has ZERO application, DOESN'T DO what the manger tells him (e.g. continually running offside when there is no need) and is a DISRUPTIVE INFLUENCE ON THE TEAM (e.g. continually leaking stuff to the press).

City have won two trophies without him. And leaks to the press have dried up since Bellamy and Ade have gone. As such it's case proven in Mancini's favour.

If he is happy to collect his wad - as he is entitled by his contract to do - it must be made plain that he will be kept well away from the squad. He can train on his own. If he wants to terminate his contract as a result, well that's up to him. We must play hard ball.

can we sack him? Never the same player for us after the gun incident

Re: Adebayor

Adebayor is a talented player but has huge motivation problems. Last season for spurs, there were moments he was utter rubbish. By some sleight of god, they coincided with them refusing to give him a contract. Then when they showed positive signs that they might sign him next year, he was again immense. A player who plays for contracts is always a dangerous proposition. Not to mention the disturbing factor in dressing room atmosphere. Get rid of him asap

How dare you guys say Ade is better than Dzeko?

This is not only an insult to Edin but an insult to the whole of Bosnia, You are saying that our best player is not good enough for you.
How dare you and I demand Edin is made captain now !

On a more serious note, I think Ade will end up at Spurs pretty soon.

Haha you are so funny, NOT !! Do you perhaps have another funny one ?

Not that I allow events like that to completely excuse others' actions, but after that incident I knew he would become more "selfish". People, depending on their predispositions, have a tendency of reacting in one of two ways to near-death experiences: they become completely Altruistic or they base their reality of fulfillment of their own desires. He was always likely to go the latter direction. I do not think he is a bad person. But I do think he has been changed in a way that is not beneficial for us, or most football clubs.

Put Dzeko in the spuds team and he'd score double what Ade put in, he'd be perfect for your team.

Wasn`t it the other day I read that a Turkish Club were interested in him ? Unless he lowers his wage demands then he ain`t going to be doing much, except keep picking up a nice salary from us.

Unfortunately I think that the Adebayor gameplan is to get us to pay his wages whilst he plays for Tottenham.

He will do what he did last summer and reject all other offers.

I know the guy who Adebayor rented his house off whilst he was in our team. Adeybayor told him he will stay to the very last day of his contract unless another club matches his £180K aweek wages. He is determined not drop a single penny during the full length of his contract. If this means he loaned out then thats OK as long as he gets his £180K one way or another. If he doesn't play then thats OK too as long as he gets his £180K per week.
The guy I know is pretty sound. he also told me the house was completely filled with Adebayor's training shoes - apparently his has hundreds of pairs in every wardrobe and in every room! You genuinely couldn't make that up.
