Advice needed re possible speeding ticket

I did that when I sold the car on the 5thJune. The confirmation from the DVLA went to my old address. I only.new this when the new owners posted the letter thru my door. That is when I realised that I might have a problem with regard to the speeding fine I may or may not have been given.
You will know by next Friday

Why will I know by next Friday? If the NIP was sent out to my old address. Have spoken to the people who bought the house. They say they have not received anything in the post. You have 28 days to respond to the NIP. When that time is up with no response from me they will summon me to court. My dilema is should I phone Cheshire Police to see if they have anything on their system about this matter or just wait and see?

They are utter wankers. A main road near to where we live, it's been plagued (as are so feckin many) by boy racers in the evening and right through night. All clearly in top end high powered cars that not a one could afford to be driving legally. (That most are uninsured and on false plates negates them caring about such)

Following a huge campaign by neighbours across the area about this issue, the police in their wisdom decided to act on our behalfs.
So, they set up a mobile speed trap on the worst stretch for five whole days .... yes, DAYS. Mon to Fri from 9 am to 4 pm.
They managed to catch many speeders, mostly locals doing a few mph over the limit. Clearly life threatening criminals. They thought it was a job well done.

Of course, once those plod were home each evening for their dinners, and feet up watching the box, the the same fucking idiots still were out doing easily 80 mph on the same 30 mph stretch.
Spot on, they are just after easy targets all the time, god forbid any of the "boy racers" get followed or even chased by the police, someone might get hurt.

Just wait it out and see mate..

Got done for the first time in my life a few weeks ago 48mph on a 40mph road. Some devious police vehicle parked in a lay by.

I have been driving for nearly 60 years and will not be doing a speed awareness course as I would just lose my temper. It is nothing to do with road safety just the police getting their statistics improved and a money making racket.

Fuck them,
Disagree with you there.

The course is boring but the odd bit makes you think.

Similar price to a fine too and no points on your license, it's a no brainer tbh

I was travelling to and from Chester on motorway on 2nd June. There was a variable speed limit of 60mph. I was probably doing 70mph on the way there and on the way back. Nothing has arrived in the post re fine.
I then realised when I moved house 4 years ago despite notifying DVLA of my new address, I totally forgot to have my new address changed on my log book. Any potential paperwork will have gone to my old address.

The people who bought my house did forward onto me the proof I sold the car sent by DVLA to my old address. I have asked them if they have had any other letter for me in the past 2 weeks, they have said no.

I am now in a situation where I could end up in court for not responding to any letter sent to me by Cheshire Police even if they were sent to the wrong address.

Should I phone Cheshire Police to ask if I was caught speeding and risk admitting to them that I may have been speeding, or just not do anything?
Just get the log book changed and no dramas

If your speedo was saying 70mph then you will be very unfortunate to receive a ticket
70 on the dial is probably 67 and the general rule for a police prosecution is 10% + 2 above the speed limit

And when you declare you have points to your insurance company the cost increases and this will be for five years not just the three that the points are recorded

As @ysmsa has said, the course does make you think and if you sat it with an open mind and treated it like a driver refresher course, there is some great advice

I have been driving for over 40 years (car & motorcycle) & touch wood managed to avoid any serious incidents, yet in the past few years I have been done for speeding twice, once by a speed camera doing 47 on a 40 section late at night with no other traffic on the road in perfect driving conditions & once on a country road by a unmarked police car sat in a layby when I was doing doing 38 in a 30 zone, about 20 yards before it changed to a 40 zone with no other traffic, clear road, no houses & perfect driving conditions.
Yes I know its my fault for breaking the speed limit but was I really causing any danger to any other road user, pedestrian etc?
The local retired busy bodies with to much time on there hands are now pushing for a 20 mph limit wherever there is a pavement (I think thats the idea) is that really sensible?
I get the idea in housing estates, near schools, hospitals, built up areas etc 20mph probably makes pefect sense but in a country village where the road is straight with no houses near the road?
I personally think I am a worst driver now than I was before the speeding fines, driver awarness course etc because I am sadly concentrating more on my speedo reading rather than whats happening on the road ahead or around the area I am driving.
