Is that why so many have moved South of the border over generations. Joking apart I was in the Shetlands a couple of years back and it is very underpopulated but is extremely beautiful in a wild sort of way.

Not sure what your rant is, I was talking about variables and our own ability as independent nations to put some form of continuing support in place without the need for US intervention.

It wasn't a rant. The point is if Canada and the rest haven't bothered with Afghanistan for 20 years I doubt they are going to be bothered now.
America ran the show, the peace deal they signed was on behalf of all nations so how can we renege on that ?
