After the World Cup disappointment, can our returning players focus on winning the league?

Makes me laugh when I see people enjoy our players like foden get knocked out. I’m sure it does him the world of fucking good, a weeks rest rather than winning the World Cup. Imagine foden, stones, walker, Grealish and Phillips all coming back as world champions. But no, delighted he’s got 3 days rest.
This. I don’t understand the preference that they fail - on a basic, human level surely we’d want the players we support and show love for every week to go and achieve their dream?

I’m ambivalent about the national team, I just enjoy watching it without any stress, but I’m disappointed for them, I love what they do for us and is why I wanted them to get that personal achievement - the squad as a whole have the potential to win the WC. Would be amazing to see them achieve the pinnacle of football - whatever I like to think about City being the most important thing for them, I know representing their country and winning a tournament that only happens every 4 years would be their top professional ambition.

No doubt there’ll be Blues saying they’re not arsed about tonight. Check the posting times. If you’re not arsed about tonight then you’re not a fan of football. Might as well be a scouser.
It’s easy to talk about the game this morning and where it went wrong for England. Takes me days to get to that point when City lose an important game. That’s the difference.

The most disappointing thing for me though is that only one City player got to the semifinals and I only really like Morocco out of the remaining teams, so will probably tune out of the tournament now.

World Cup has done us a favour with certain players.
Kyle Walker looked back to his best last night marking Mbappe and we have really missed him.
We've not seen much at of Kalvin Phillips since he signed but he's had the equivalent of three weeks warm weather training without having to play much.
The vast majority of our squad are home from the World Cup with more than two weeks to go before our next league match. I'd say we are looking in good shape at the moment.
Apart from Johnny Stones getting injured in the last minute of England's World Cup. Hopefully it's not serious but his injuries do seem to take a long time to heal

Could work in our favour that we only have a new, relatively young signing in the latter stages. Collective unit can get their heads together and create a siege mentality - achieve domestically to mask your international disappointment / fuck ups.
