After the World Cup disappointment, can our returning players focus on winning the league?

They’re professionals and although it will be upsetting and may/will play on their minds in the beginning they will probably talk to the sports ‘psychologist/psychiatrist’ people they talk to after injury etc and work through it in any friendlies they play before we get back to ‘normal’.
Does that make sense?
I trust our (City) lads and know they will be up and ready. They are lads in Blue and never give in. They fight to the end.

He’s not destined to win a medal is he? I think that second penalty was up there with the most pressure anyone could get in sport. A few minutes to go, realistically the goal that should propel England to the WC final (Morocco a bit depleted and England would have beaten them), if it was level at that stage I think Kane would have buried it but it was last ditch. I saw him walking back down the tunnel on his own, a forlorn figure of a man who is extremely successful in his profession with all the trappings that go with it, but fuck me I felt so bad for him, I’m over England’s loss but that touched a nerve.

Fuck Kane. If he had real balls He would have left spurs and would probably end his career with some silverware. He will see his days out at Spurs and look at his empty mantle piece in years to come and think what could have been. Look at Teddy Sheringham. He had minerals to leave and look at what he won.

Sheringham left when he was 31/32. Kane still has a chance, but with what spurs clearly value him at and given a lot of teams won't pay that, unlike Sheringham he has probably played himself into a corner.

I was posting on a human being level, he was hoping to join us last season but Levy put paid to that asking for a ridiculous 130m plus. Sheringham was different, he wasn’t priced out of a move, Kane’s mistake was signing a contract extension that gave Levy the nap hand. I’ve criticised Kane at this World Cup but I felt for the fella last night, he’s a decent person, wish it had been Rashford, Shaw or Henderson who had missed.
 
what Manchester city need is a couple of new faces to the squad ? transfer window open get a new left back/right back if possible, the good news is we have 3 or 4 players that never played in the world cup and ready to go,

the weather will be the bigger problem the COLD

Awwww I’m worried now. Oh heckle meckle will we ever get those extra 8 points… a couple of wins and a draw might do it maybe? I’m on edge now. John Boy better be ok and Jack not disappointed at the way thingymabob the England manager treated him. Mind you that might give him incentive? ;-)

This should be ok for finely tuned elite athletes - just look at @Blue Mist for example. Musty has gone from freezing UK temperatures to 30-40 degrees in Oz and maintained 100% of his usual athletic performance.
 
I’m sure the City players will be gutted it’s not every day you get to a word cup but once they’ve had a few days rest and get going on the training pitch Pep will have them sorted out.

You don't half like getting the word “Eccles” in in some form or another, EB!
Actually, I've never heard that expression before. Is it limited to the district of Eccles? Or Greater Manchester in general?

I’d imagine the ones who haven’t been at the World Cup will be the least ready to go. They won’t be match fit. That was one of the problems with having a mid season World Cup: as well as the ones going getting injured, it was the ones staying and having so long without playing.

The World Cup could have been a fucking nightmare for City with us having the most players involved and the threat of injury and fatigue to many of them. It appears we only have one injury so we’ve done extremely well there.

So the ones who’ve been playing should be able to slot straight in. It’s Haaland and Mahrez that will be the most difficult to get ready.
