After the World Cup disappointment, can our returning players focus on winning the league?

You don't half like getting the word “Eccles” in in some form or another, EB!
Actually, I've never heard that expression before. Is it limited to the district of Eccles? Or Greater Manchester in general?
I'm not sure where it's from @Lovebitesandeveryfing but my Gran used to use it all the time when we were kids. "Oh heckle meckle, what've you done to yourself now?" When we fell and hurt ourselves or "Heckle meckle your Grandad's going to have a curmedgeon on if his dinner isn't ready."
She was born and raised in Norfolk so maybe it's a Norfolk expression, although she also lived in London, Derbyshire and good old Eccles. :-)

I’d imagine the ones who haven’t been at the World Cup will be the least ready to go. They won’t be match fit. That was one of the problems with having a mid season World Cup: as well as the ones going getting injured, it was the ones staying and having so long without playing.

The World Cup could have been a fucking nightmare for City with us having the most players involved and the threat of injury and fatigue to many of them. It appears we only have one injury so we’ve done extremely well there.

So the ones who’ve been playing should be able to slot straight in. It’s Haaland and Mahrez that will be the most difficult to get ready.
Lol, can I be the first one to get a FFS Mahrez in, in that case ;-)

I’m sure the City players will be gutted it’s not every day you get to a word cup but once they’ve had a few days rest and get going on the training pitch Pep will have them sorted out.
ALERT: Tongue in cheek time and apologies if I offend @wythenshaweblue£££ It is not intended to.

If they had won the word cup would they have been able to boast about their spellings and grammar? Or will their training mean more spelling tests on the different types of grass on the pitch?

Couldn't resist, sorry.

Just read an article by Stan Collymore slagging Phil off, I must admit I've never read anything positive he's had to say about City....for what it's worth I've always thought Phil is wasted out on the wing.
Agree with that about playing wide to some extent too, but re last night, I can’t for the life of me see a way in which Foden could be singled out and held responsible for the match outcome.

Bouncing back from disappointments is one of the key challenges of elite footballers, and we've had a few over the years. They should be fine really. I suspect most players want to get back to it rather than waiting around all summer. A nice CL trophy should ease any pain our players are currently feeling.

Would’ve been much more demoralising losing a semi final or a final. The further you go, the more it hurts when you miss out.

Also wouldn’t underestimate the benefits of returning a week early and playing two games less. It will help us a lot having our players back and ready for the match against the scousers

Surprised collymore even gets jobs when you consider todays cancel culture, you would think his past of using women as a punch bag would come back to haunt him.

Then again, he’s a has-been from the 90’s, I don’t think anyone is arsed enough.

Surely that’s the same question for other clubs players too

We weren’t the only side to have players there

what Manchester city need is a couple of new faces to the squad ? transfer window open get a new left back/right back if possible, the good news is we have 3 or 4 players that never played in the world cup and ready to go,

the weather will be the bigger problem the COLD
Going to be 10 degrees and wet by the time they start playing again, should be a delight after Qatar

Professionals don't take time in moving on, us fans do, so they should have no problem, a short vacation in Ibiza and they'd be alright

He’s not destined to win a medal is he? I think that second penalty was up there with the most pressure anyone could get in sport. A few minutes to go, realistically the goal that should propel England to the WC final (Morocco a bit depleted and England would have beaten them), if it was level at that stage I think Kane would have buried it but it was last ditch. I saw him walking back down the tunnel on his own, a forlorn figure of a man who is extremely successful in his profession with all the trappings that go with it, but fuck me I felt so bad for him, I’m over England’s loss but that touched a nerve.
Wonder if he'll be tormented like Rashford was last season by other fans. Think Arsenal fans are unlikely to let him forget it.

we all laugh ? but it's a very big change and will not be easy to go again at club football,
the city players need to start on fire and hit the ground running because we are 5 points behind the leaders,

Yup
I definitely think he will look to move this summer
Unfortunately he was v poorly advised by his agent/brother when he signed his contract extension
Feel sorry for him (but not for fucking Levi and spurs)

Sad for the guys, mostly our players did well, but I am pleased most have come back unscathed ( depends on Stones’ late withdrawal). best wishes to our lads still out there
