After the World Cup disappointment, can our returning players focus on winning the league?

He’s not destined to win a medal is he? I think that second penalty was up there with the most pressure anyone could get in sport. A few minutes to go, realistically the goal that should propel England to the WC final (Morocco a bit depleted and England would have beaten them), if it was level at that stage I think Kane would have buried it but it was last ditch. I saw him walking back down the tunnel on his own, a forlorn figure of a man who is extremely successful in his profession with all the trappings that go with it, but fuck me I felt so bad for him, I’m over England’s loss but that touched a nerve.

He looked like he was absolutely bricking it. Amazing what pressure can do.

Surprised collymore even gets jobs when you consider todays cancel culture, you would think his past of using women as a punch bag would come back to haunt him.

Then again, he’s a has-been from the 90’s, I don’t think anyone is arsed enough.

And working for Russia Today.

He's a really shrewd operator.

As Pep deliciously remarked, "Stan who?"

Sure no problems, they wil be just as happy as I am that's its out of the way.

I'd hope the bitter taste of defeat would galvanise them to ensure they don't experience it again but you never know.

Started thinking during the France game how an England World Cup win would affect City
I reckon the partying wold have gone on for weeks and it would have been hard for players to re-focus on their clubs for a while.

The task is now to get them back into their "rhythm"

Jack, Kyle and Phillips will be raring to go, the latter can deputise for an exhausted Rodri for a while. Stonesy and Phil might need a more gentle reintroduction.

Of the others, Bernie and Alvarez would benefit from a bit of time off and possibly Cancelo too - maybe his ordeal at home has caught up with him. Kev and Gundog have had a nice bit of warm weather training and should be fine.

Just giving it a quick thought the only city player to have a disaster was de bruyne with many being commended for good performances;

Ake - have seen some say the netherlands best player. lost on penalty and didnt take one.

Rodri & Laporte - not to blame, ever present. hopefully Laporte has stopped blubbing by now, he’s not even Spanish ffs

Bernie, Dias - slight critiscm for the morocco game, nothing major
Cancelo - dropped but i think the portugese public have marginally backlashed that he should have played against morocco

Stones, Walker, Foden - all played well. no blame there
Philips, Grealish - barely a kick, wont feel any responsibility

Alvaraz - slight surprise to be first choice perhaps whatever happens. unless he misses in a shoot out should be ok.

Akanji - played decent. scored. team got about what they expected.

Ederson - didnt play.

Gundog - scored a pen then got substituted against Japan and Germany collapsed. not his fault

KDB - shite and caused a stir. probably
not done his brand any good

Anyone any ideas when our boys return to training and when are city home from Abu Dhabi? Imagine gundo kev and ajanji will be back this week?
