I had an op on my torn meniscus 24 years ago. After an NHS op and NHS physio - both worked fantastically well for me as three/four months later I was playing footy again. The meniscus surgery today's players undergo is more far more specialised and they can be playing again in 6 weeks. There is a psychological aspect to knee injuries - the physio will manipulate your knee beyond what you think is possible and you have to overcome a confidence barrier to swing your foot through the ball and getting stuck into tackles. Wouldn't be surprised if Sergio's back for the Champions League latter stages - taking nothing for granted though.
