I was thinking that, aircon in the UK? really?
Air con is great for demisting windows, I use it even in the winter.

Did it pack in suddenly or gradually? It works fine now. So I'm going to make sure I use it regularly and when it goes in for another service (probably around Christmas time) I'm going to make sure it's checked.
Unless its a different type of gas than we use over here (freon, I believe).
Then surely to god they have to be responsible for it leaking out into the ozone?
Huge fucking fines for not recapturing freon whenever doing any work on aircon systems.
I've not had our VW's working for a couple of years now. I miss it (it's been warm!) and can't open my drivers windows due to 'perforated ear' issue...and then that horrific 'booming' you get when the kids open the passenger windows.
Anyone tried re gassing the air con themselves? I had a bloke round a few years back who mentioned I could do it myself (Vauxhall mind), but in the end I paid him to do it.
Just to let you know you can buy refrigerant. That would be impossible, you cant buy refrigerant without a license
They dont use the nasty shit anymore
Difficult to say as there was a 6 month period between October last year and March this year where I wasn't using the car very much. I think it was working fine before that then wasn't after.Did it pack in suddenly or gradually?
That's exactly what happened to mine, sat on the drive for months, then no chilling and I definitely don't have gas leak. So long as mechanical components are ok then it looks like accepting what they say. I assume they did the dye test for leaks? I used an independent specialist for test and new gas, £45, my father in law will know good independent near Prestwich if it would help?Difficult to say as there was a 6 month period between October last year and March this year where I wasn't using the car very much. Cheers but had it done at the dealers as I've then got some comeback if it goes wrong again. That's exactly what happened to mine, sat on the drive for months, then no chilling and I definitely don't have gas leak.
