Al-Nassr to be (maybe) invited into the 2024/25 Champions League?

Middle Eastern clubs playing in a European Competition will eventually happen.. why not.. might aswell allow players to play for whatever International team they want to play for, why should players like Ian Rush or George Best be penalised for being from countries that were never good enough to play in the World Cup, they should be allowed to play for Brazil or Italy.... let’s not stop there.. why don’t football fans pick the Club from another town or City to support because there own one is not good enough or not successful enough... wait.. one of these has already happend.
Yep, you abandoned the dippers because they stopped winning…! Now you spend your days surfing this forum, playing the classroom devils advocate or just talking a load bollocks to illicit a reaction…!

I’m not making a political point here, and I’m not taking sides, but there are practical obstacles to overcome if Saudi Arabia wants to join a UEFA competition.

Saudi Arabia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, which is a member of UEFA. Israeli and Saudi teams could not play each other except in neutral venues, as Israeli and Saudi citizens would not have consular representation in each other’s territory, so their mutual safety could not be assured. Come to think of it, any Saudi or Israeli player or fan in a third country couldn’t go to the other country. Eyal Berkovic for example wouldn’t have been on the plane for our away leg. Manor Solomon of Spurs, for example, likewise. Any Saudi player for a non-Saudi UEFA team likewise.

Not to mention the scarcely less intractable difficulties in publicly declaring in KSA that I have spent all my money on drugs and City, and that we are Man City and we’re on the piss again. It’s a minefield, and hopefully only a metaphorical one.

No doubt a no mark source looking for a headline. Never ever happening. Invitational spots turns it into the super league, you'd then get every single failing big club demanding entry too.

If they were allowed entry by merit and joined uefa, they would have to ensure they complied with ffp like everyone elsr which they haven't got a prayer of doing. if they didn't, ffp instantly goes out of the window entirely which causes chaos and uefa can wave goodbye to their cash cow ffp fines and probably say hello to multiple law suits from various clubs that have suffered and been fined heavily in recent years.

Everything would fall to shit completely overnight, it's simply not happening. Just shows how braindead the "source" is for even trying to suggest it.

For now…

This was a test the water scenario I reckon.

It wasn’t a test, it was a shite rumour made up by some absolutely nobody on twitter that got retweeted by all the football rumour accounts and then loads of media illiterate people flying off the handle because they didn’t bother checking the obviously bollocks rumour was bollocks before they just swallowed the whole thing. Then UEFA, which has already made it clear that the idea is bollocks several times, has had to come out and issue another denial of this thing that isn’t going to happen.

So what you are saying is that it probably might not happen but it might when the wind is blowing in the right direction?
