Alan Davies upsets Liverpool fans

After buying your season tickets and In the interests of making money sky tell you to disregard the fixture list as you will play when and where they tell you (without consultation), do fans take to msg boards giving them grief (very few). Liverpool football club say they will not play on the 15th April to remember 96 football fans who we will never forget and people go nuts.........says a lot really

I said I got it wrong and have apologised to the lad via pm. I apologise to you as well. For your information we lost a good friend of the family in the Munich crash. Hence why I'm sensitive about the use of the word.
You shouldn't have to explain yourself about being sensitive about the use of that word. In any event it is expressly prohibited for in the COC and as a Mod it is your job to enforce its perceived misuse.

I think the original post was ambiguous and given the capacity of that word to offend perhaps people should be more explicit as to the context that it is being used when using it in future. If he'd referred to it as 'The Munich Derby' that would have been much clearer than 'a Munich game'.

Back to the matter in hand I am astonished that if Liverpool are playing on the anniversary of Heysel this season (or have at any time previously) that more isn't being made of this. Anyone would think that the press were scared stiff of offending them.

It's prohibited in the wrong context.

Liverpool haven't played on the Heysel anniversary, but that's a bit difficult as May 29th doesn't fall within the season.
I am well aware that it is prohibited in the wrong context, as otherwise it would have made describing our first away CL fixture a little difficult. My point was given the scope for ambiguity with that word people should be careful when using it to contextualise it thoroughly.

I didn't realise Heysel was so far towards the end of May and therefore is unlikely to present a problem. I do remember what a beautiful evening it was, weather wise, that night back home. I was playing football in the local park and got back to see thew awful carnage on the TV.

I have just been watching the local BBC news and they started off by saying 'later we will be looking at the part Liverpool played in the Titanic disaster' ...... I immediatley laughed and thought to myself that they will jump on any bandwagon to get noticed and presumably they will now refuse to play games on the 15th April.
Oops! That's what they're already doing, unless I've read your post wrong. If that is the case, my humble apologies.

Perhaps I was being a little too clever (or sarcastic) the 15th is also the day the Titanic sank and as they want to be involoved in that disaster as well....

The best point made on this thread so far.

Fair point. Never thought of that, and I should have. God knows there's been enough in the media about it!

Bollocks.... They managed a Munich game at the Swamp.... I feel the bin-dippers loss but don't agree we should pussy foot around to suit them
Bollocks. They've never played on the 15th since Hillsborough. And you can have a warning for using the M word.

wow...

Guys, clearly my English was lost on some, I meant that the club managed to play a Munich Tribute, nothing more. Which was our proudest moment for some time! Impeccably handled by all the blues there and emotional for all

Not something I make light off I can assure you, i meant if United can play on anniversary, so can Liverpool

In hindsight, yes my post was brief and could be argued to be amibigous, apologies if it was mis-read by some, it was not the intention............
