ISIS now control an area the size of Britain stradling parts of two countries (Syria and Iraq), how is it possible to station enough troops around various different villages to protect "civillians" and who exactly are those who need protecting? How will we know who needs protecting and who actually supports ISIS? They will be sitting targets for suicide bombers, IED explosions etc etc. How much is all this gonna cost?

France, Turkey, Italy and Germany have paid ransoms and had their hostages freed. UK Gov could have done the same but they chose not to.

Right we all know what you think, you have spent the best part of the last 12 hours regaling us about how bad we are in the west, but you have not given us a solution to the problem, all you seem to be saying is that we should have paid a ransom (blaming the government for not doing so) are you suggesting that we should just stand back and allow ISIL free reign right across the Middle East to rape and murder and convert by the sword?

We need to get out of the imperialist mindset, using phrases about us "allowing" people to do things. Who are we? Why are we saying who can do things and who cant?

As ive said this needs to be sorted out by Muslims in their own lands in the Middle East. Its not our fight, it has nothing to do with Europeans or Americans. Free our hostages and allow the various sects to fight it out. The minute the west intervenes they will unite against us and then when we retreat again they will go back to fighting it out among themselves. Why prolong the inevitable? As I already said this is a showdown that has been coming since the death of the prophet.

We have far too much vested interest to allow that to happen, it's not only Oil and Gas (although that plays a part) it's trade ad the flow of goods and services, I actually beleive that in a couple of years they will cease to exist as a group in fact it will more than likely be sooner such is the weight of force that is building up against them, again you need to separate Iraq and Syria as it's to different situations (and groups)

You talk about cost them say we should pay ransoms ?? I don't know exactly how it could be done as I'm not a specialist in ground warfare and military strategy. I guess the powers that be will figure it all out and decide what we should do. I have no say in it and neither will you

We supposedly live in a democracy, so surely we should have a say in things because its in our name that our Military fights and in our name that our leaders act and our money that finances these things. I would also say that the so called specialists havent a clue either, thats why Iraq and Afghanistan was such a humiliating failure for us.

To launch another ground offensive is going to cost billions, paying a ransom would have cost a few million. Other European Countries have always paid ransoms. I would rather spend our money at home. I dont want more Tory cuts and yet spending billions on wars that cannot be won.

Isis are funding their organisation with Syrian oil ! So far they have smuggled out $800m dollars worth over the border into Turkey. They can buy more guns, more bombs, recruit more psychopathic murders into their ranks and expand over into egypt, Israel, Jordan etc are we to let this happen ? How long before they are operational to pull off another world trade centre ??? They hate us and hitting the UK and US on our own soil on a regular basis is their ultimate aim. And they will achieve it if we just bury our naive heads in the sand and try to convince ourselves it's just a Middle East problem
How will you react to the cost we pay down the line if we don't cut the head off the beast now ?

But cutting the head off and ten more even more radical emerge.

Bin Laden was killed yeah, I would argue Abu Bakr al Baghdadi is more extreme, wouldnt you? In fact isnt funny how Al Qeada are suddenly referred to as not that extreme anymore in comparison with ISIS?

Its not, ISIS have demolished the Sykes Picot border between Iraq and Syria in the area they control. ISIS are fighting in Iraq and Syria. Who are you referring to as the different groups and situations?

I believe your wrong, everyone thought Al Qaeda would be defeated, did anyone ever imagine a group even more extreme would be on the verge of establishing a caliphate?

How is doing nothing an alternative ? You go after the oil, the guns the training camps the generals who train these prospective jihadists. You do this and all those stupid idiots running over there to fight will have nowhere to go, no guns to fire and nobody to train them. You think about that $800m in oil money they have and what they will do with it and ask yourself does it scare the living shit out of you ?
Alan Henning was killed because he was british ! No amount we paid would have spared him from the fate that awaited him. Yeah they gave back some Turks because they are selling oil to the Turks so hardly wanna piss them off right now when they can move freely through their country.

I wonder if they'll all be wearing ski masks for ever more?

So we wait for them to come to our cities? Good plan!

They aint coming to our cities, stop swallowing western propaganda design to get us on side for another war.

ISIS and their fellow travellers want a Caliphate, harking back to the glory days of the Prophet Muhammed, they want to unite Muslims under the true Shariah, not the fake stuff imposed by the Saudis, in their lands in the Middle East. Europe is not included, other than Spain, it was always Christian. When Baghdadi refers to Rome, they mean Europe, using the historical term Romans, meaning Europeans. ISIS dont want to conquer Europe and will only fight us if we keep going and invading the Muslim world.

So I imagined all the arrests of ISIS supporters in Brisbane and Sydney a couple of weeks ago? Or the ISIS threat to perform a terrorist act on Australian parliament? Ok, my bad.

Poor form trolling on a thread like this.
