Alan Shearer

Seem to remember Dickie Dunne often coming out on top when Shearer played for Newcastle against City. A very strong, physical no. 9 who was prepared to win at all costs. Luckily for us when he played against Dunne, Shearer often got caught up in a battle and seemed to lose his rag. Got away with murder as referees seldom punished England internationals, especially a national hero like "Mary Poppins".

A phenomenal striker and would be today too (if his career started in this era). He was strong as an ox even at a young age. He didnt mind getting his hands dirty. Straight away he would try to beat a defender for strength and power and they would tend to back off him a bit which was dangerous.

He could hit the ball so fucking hard and accurate most goalies had no chance. Always in the right place at the right time as well. He could hold the ball up with ease, find space with ease, head, aggression, shoot and volley. I think his only weakness would be his skill. I admire he stayed at his boyhood club but he would have won it all at United

One of my favourite 'non-City' goals was his goal against Holland in Euro 96. 99% of strikers would have just it hard and low - Shearer stroked it into the top right with absolute perfect placement. It's for the same reason why Balotelli's first goal against the rags in the sick swan is also a favourite of mine.

Uwe Rosler's goal at Blackburn when we did them 4-2 in the year they won the league was also similar.
