Albert Rusnak

Manchester City youngster Albert Rusnak is set to leave the club on a permanent basis to join Groningen, sources have told ESPN FC.

Rusnak is currently on loan at Eredivisie side Cambuur Leeuwarden until January, where he has been winning plenty of new admirers.

Cambuur were keen to extend his stay and make the move permanent, with the 20-year-old having scored three goals in 15 appearances, helping the club to eighth spot in the table.

However, his performances have not gone unnoticed among other clubs in the Eredivisie and across Europe, with Groningen having jumped to the head of the queue for the attacking midfielder.

Rusnak joined City as a 16-year-old from FC Kosice but struggled to establish himself in the Premier League club's first team, and so they are willing to sell him in January.

Talks are thought to be at an advanced stage between Groningen and City, with the player believed to have agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal to join the Dutch side and end his spell at the Etihad Stadium

Good luck to the lad. He is at the age where he needs to play regular games which he will not get at City.

Scored a pretty good goal tonight:

Plan A was much better - he extends contract with us and then is loaned out wherever he wants, most likely in Edervise, until he's ready for City. Shame on both Rusnak and City if this option won't happen

Joining Groeningen permanently next month for an 'undisclosed' fee.

Good luck for the future Albert.
Yep, it's official.

City requested that Groningen didn't make the transfer fee public, according to the FC Groningen website. Rusnak has signed a 3,5 year contract.

Interesting they say city wanted to extend his deal and he wasnt interested. Wonder how much truth is in that?

Anyway best of look Bert

We would have only wanted to extended his contract to enable us to get a bigger fee in my opinion.

He has done well in Holland so far this season by all accounts, but I still think he is behind Lopes and Pozo in making it into the City first team.

We will see, good luck to him!
