Album of the year - 2025

My vote for weirdness this year is going to The New Eves , at one level it seems a bit contrived but I think on balance they probably are genuinely tapped.

This year foe me is characterised by bands not quite living up to their previous albums or my expectations. Not all, but too large a number not to notice.

And bands that haven't released anythind years sneaking in albums withiut anyone noticing.

Oh I didn't say I didn't like it. Couple of days ago Cow Song came on autoplay in the car and I think it was the first time my youngest had heard them. I looked over and he was giving me a look not dissimilar to the kind my dad used to give me :-)

I can see that. More importantly though (speaking of forgotten oldies sneaking in new albums) the new Eros Ramazotti has just dropped. Wonder if it has time to climb into my top 10 ;).

Lol, have you seen the cover to that album? Object lesson in making yourself look like a wrong 'un. Mind he has significant previous for looking dodgy on album covers.

On the basis that the only reason I ever know that there's new releases is you and OOB6 on the new music thread, I suspect they'll be a couple of overlaps.

Quite like a lot of this but it seems to suffer a bit from not quiet knowing what genre suits them best.

Got six albums off the top of my head and a month to remind myself of some others. Find of the year from the New Music thread was this

 
When I sat down and had a proper think, this year was better than I thought in that though there was very little that blew my socks off there were more solid efforts than I realised. Ended up putting 10 in without too much trouble.
