Alcohol, hints, tips, advice etc.

I haven’t had a drink drink since Saturday and feel good. I’ve had a job interview and also hospital today. I’m not allowed a beer until this Saturday due to my scan prep.

Something somewhere inside me has told me to cut right down. I’m unsure why but I think I’m going to. It was 14 units a week according to the nurse when I had my bloods done. That’s something like 7 pints of average strength beer. I could easily have that over the course of a day watching football.

This made me laugh on a thread about helping posters to cut down/give up the booze:

Hope your interview went well.

Similar to others on here I have drunk far too much too regularly over a period of time.
Few Beers plus wine most/sometimes every night, sometimes as much as 4 beers and bottle of wine(no spirits I say that as if it exonerates me but I know it doesn't). Match days it's more as always get a lift to the match.
3 Weeks ago was on holiday in Tenerife and carried on in similar manner but added daytime pints to it.
5th day of holiday was fed up of feeling tired/slightly rough and little energy so more or less stopped for rest of holiday.
Thought I would find it tough and TBH some days I just think about having a beer/wine.
However for last 14 days have had one glass of wine whilst our for a meal and 2 glasses watching the City game on Tuesday,we shared a bottle so none in the house now. Feel tons better in terms of energy/sleep etc and time with kids is much more rewarding for us all.
Been to the pub with friends/family about 4 times since and not entertained a drink and told all who asked that I just feel better not drinking so the "Just have the one" remarks generally fizzled out.
Going to Wembley tomorrow but wont be drinking and can see me keeping this up as the benefits of not drinking/reducing drastically far outweigh the regular nightly drinks.
Being realistic will sill have odd glass of wine with meal out but no beer/wine at home.
We re all different but that is my personal take on it now and intend to carry on with this.

I’ve not had a drink for a week. Last night I didn’t go out on a Friday for the first time since lockdown and I feel very positive. I needed to sleep until 10am but I was shattered after a very busy week. Since then, I’ve done about four chores and am now ready to go out.

Telling myself I can do this is all I needed. I still am going to drink but only on occasions like football or organised nights out. Apologies in advance to Wirral pubs and breweries…

Yes he got the job in bargain booze:)
When I was a student, I’d get 8 cans for £5 from the Wilmslow Road branch in a doubled up blue plastic carrier bag and go to a house party. I’d leave when the bag was empty. Them days.

I have a temp role within the probation service sorted but this one is permanent and walking distance from home. I hope to find out Monday.
