Had three months off the booze at the start of this year, which inevitably ended up being truncated by a couple of months, have pretty much knocked neat spirits on the head and have 3-4 booze fee days most weeks now, all following from a blood test last year where my ALT levels were significantly OTT. Just had the latest set of blood results back and the ALT levels are just only outside normal range now, with everything else looking good, which I’m really chuffed about. So glad I got the warning when I did. Had my liver checked out a few months ago, and there no permanent damage after years of heavy drinking. More by luck than judgement I’d say.
Just need to push on for the next six months and get them down again and keep them there.
As I’ve previously posted on this thread, I’ve always had a positive relationship with alcohol, and I want that to continue, especially as it’s a significant part of my job and actually part of what makes me so good at it, given the amount of socialising involved, but equally I know I’m not invincible and I’ve got so much to live for that I need to continue to rein it in as best I can.
