i work in shipping mate, good to hear someone else on here does.

In the last few years of operations, ive had 2 drunk masters! both times had to helicopter a captain out to the ship as no one else on board could take over.

It must be hard/tempting for the crew to go into town and have a few beers, especially when a ship is stuck at port for a few weeks or even months some cases.

cant they even drink when they are ashore? thought it was banned just whilst onboard, blimey

Nope, Ships may be called upon to sail at anytime.

where is the line drawn if your an alcoholic or not ? their is a lot of weekenders on here like myself who gets through 3 bottles of red and 3 large bottles of beer that gets me through fri-sun then nothing mon-thurs unless i'm at city midweek, am i a binge drinker or a casual or an alcoholic, i thought an alcoholic was one that drinks at least a bottle of voka a night

A smoker cant do without fags, its the same thing

If your addicted to booze your an alcoholic, lucky for you your body doesnt crave too much, some people HAVE to drink more as the body craves it.
