Aleix Garcia

Was watching him closely because we have struggled in this position. On one Chelsea break he sprinted back and went to close the ball, meanwhile Fernando trotted back and then marked an area outside the box despite the runner who was there drifting past him and between our centre backs. Poor play for someone who has been playing senior football for so long.

Showed enough to be given more senior action. That was a Chelsea team full of talent and playing the best they've managed since last season.

Brilliant composure on the ball, just so calm in possession. Strong lad too.

I wasn't very impressed with him in the EDS game week, but I thought he was much better yesterday. My worry is his vision, I think he struggles to pass through the opposition's lines and that might hold him back. A.Garcia passes a lot without hurting the opposition. He was better yesterday playing in a two rather than as the sole holding midfielder like in the EDS. He has more potential in that role than as the sole holding midfielder for sure. Vision and being able to pass through the opposition's midfield is huge in that position at the top level - A.Garcia hasn't got that yet.

He's going to be a very good player though. Reminds me a little bit of Javi Martinez.

I'd have to disagree about his vision, I've seen plenty of examples of him for the youth team where he's played a long ball out from the back (to either wing usually) totally bypassing the midfield and setting us on the front foot. He plays with his head up looking for opportunities.

He did it yesterday too, pinging a brilliant 40 yard ball right on to Barker's chest when then skinned Ivanovic brilliantly.

Seems like he's got a long pass in him. Not always looking to play short options. Misplaced a few yesterday. Sort of reminded me of a young Veratti because he's on the small side but got stuck in in a deeper position. Not sure he has that kind of talent, but I think he looks like he could play the role from yesterday in the PL from time to time already to me eyes.

I thought he was head & shoulders the best of the two Garcias yesterday & indeed the best City player. I thought he was surprisingly strong too &, on the day, actually looked like the one kid who could step straight into the senior team.

Seems to be a huge volume of opinion saying the other one was better, so I'll have to try & see it again.

I thought he was superb though, at least until he tired. But to come in & do that, vs such top midfield players, in Pellegrini's stupid system, was fantastic imo.

No you were right, he was the better of the two. Manu showed some lovely little intelligent turns, spinning away a couple of times from Chelsea's markers, and he was involved in the goal too with that flick, but Aleix was sensational given the circumstances. He's physically and mentally ready IMO and I can see Pep actually loving him. Such an intelligent player and the encouraging thing is that he's got better week after week in the EDS. He looked totally lost with the defensive side of things when he started but he's adapted so quickly. It's the reason why Bryan's playing at CB now I think, as they prefer him at DM in the deep-lying playmaker role, and you can't really argue with it given his clear promise.

To think we paid peanuts for him too...absolute gem we could've unearthed. Credit to the club's scouting system.

In a game like the Chelsea one, it was complete nonsense to play just Garcia & Fernando imo. Kean Bryan with those two, would have been perfect & I doubt Chelsea would have been anywhere near so dangerous. But that would have involved Manuel employing tactics & balance & not playing 442. So in other words, was out of the question.

A manager with a game plan other than the bleeding obvious, could have employed people such as Bryan, Angelino, even Nemane for 45 mins, just running his bollocks off doing a job, in order to try & get a result. Fresh runners in the wide positions, play 45 mins each etc, or Barker & Garcia behind Iheanacho for half a game, as a 3 attack/ 5 midfield, all manner of stuff.

What do we get ? Four four fucking two, followed by... four four fucking two, with Demichelis centre mid.

God I'm so sick & tired of him.

Vieira, right or wrong, would have used about 3 or 4 formations in that game, with the players available to him.

As frustrating as it is Nev,its not much longer to wait and hopefully predictability and nonsensical tactics will be confined to history.
