Aleix Garcia

I feel he is a bit static when someone is running at him, he should be jockeying o/w he would get beat by a skillful player! Still so young and wonderful composure on the ball and passing range is his biggest ally.

Reminded me a little of Ian Bishop today. Lacks pace but wonderful passing range for his age.

Serious quality on the ball and reading the game but plenty to learn about in the defensive side of the game. Its developing though but then a lack of pace might be a big issue. Was it just a lack of pace that was notable on occasion or was he just a bit knackered?

While he isnt a fast player, two hard games, one including the incredible adrenaline rush of a debut at Chelsea......in the space of 48 hrs, wont have done his energy levels a great deal of good. So,taking that into account, yesterdays contribution was a brilliant effort.

In the 85th minute when the scoreline was 2-1 for the opposition, of course he was gonna play the risky ball. Also, after playing about 180 minutes in 3 days (+travel in the day of rest), I don't think it's fair to blame him for that goal. Especially as on numerous occasions it was his sublime passing that created space for our wingers, but oftentimes it was them who couldn't beat the men in front of them.

Being responsible for the 3rd goal, doesn't mean he didn't have a very good game.

Actually, I am glad to see him play and prefer to give him a chance instead of Fernando or instead of using Demi as a CM.

Completely agree. A quick mind is worth more than quick legs anyway. He can play a holding role alongside a more combative midfielder. His ability on the ball, spreading the play wide is fantastic. A couple of Pirlo like passes wide yday where he sweeps the ball out wide ahead of the onrushing full back. That's excellent vision. (I'm not saying he's the next Pirlo by the way, but there were a couple of things he did that were excellent and what you'd want to see a deep lying playmaker do).

Whilst that's all true if a player does have limitations in some aspects of his game he has to be a bit special in others to make it at the top level. I would liken A Garcia more to Alonso than Pirlo and he didn't do to bad did he?

When I first saw him play the passing /playmaking talent was obvious plus he did seem to have a very good first touch and could do it under pressure.I was a little concerned that he didn't have much in the way of defensive qualities especially in winning the ball as the deep lying midfielder is expected to do. Also I wondered how effective he was going to be in the final third when it came to real assists and scoring goals. It's all very nice to spray long passes to a winger in space but can he make the key short passes around the box to set up goalscoring chances.

Defensively I am still not convinced and being a little on the slow side doesn't help but he does read the game well and make some important interceptions. Work in progress on the part of his game as he has got better. The same I guess for the final 3rd part. He has scored at least 2 superb goals ( + a free kick) and I feel he is getting more involved in this area as he must.

A real talent and definitely worth being involved more with the first team squad.

For an 18 year old I think this guy is absolute quality. I have no doubt that he'll impress Pep with his playing style and personality.

Yes, his misplaced pass led to their third last night. But let's not forget that he was driving the team on second half and was pulling all of the strings for us in midfield - with an ineffective Kongolo, Patching and Diaz acting as his supporting cast.

He showed real leadership for me in the way he played and he'll learn from that pass more than anyone.

I'd liken his movements to Xavi and I imagine he was quite similar to Aleix at 18, which is when he made his Barca debut too. He has a similar humble attitude too which I'm sure will endear him to our fans even more.

We should maybe try him in a midfield trio alongside Fernandinho and Delph,I think their energy would compliment him superbly.
