MotM for me as well. That ball he played to Sterling was phenomenal. Surely he's earned another contract?. If I had my choice we keep him, vinnie, and nico for another year.

His ability to go past a man and open up space makes a huge difference to how effectively we can build out from the back. He's not really quick enough for fullback but he's a yard quicker than the average center back and on a few occasions he pushed past a player or two and opened the whole thing up for us. Reminiscent of Frank de Boer or Siniša Mihajović back in the day. Always partial to a cultured left-footed center back.

That's a good point and adds so much value. Nico does this effectively as well. John as the ability, and he was getting forward early in the year but he's a bit lackadaisical and it cost us at times. We've been having him take the more conservative options lately and it's working out well.

If Silva wasn't MOTM yesterday then Kolarov probably would've been. The most remarkable turnaround in a players' City career I can remember.

He was first on my personal list of who Pep would let go. Suppose that's why he is a footballing coach genius and I'm a not very good armchair critic. Fair play to Aleks, he has resurrected his City career in a way I couldn't have imagined. Thought he was strong defensively when he needed to be and his range of passing just extraordinary. Must have earned himself another season.

I thought him & Stones had almost nothing to do, & still managed to create several openings for Sunderland due to negligence & sometimes quite hopeless passing. A couple of moments of good defending but that's what they are there for. Good defending should be the norm, not something they get a pat on the back for. They had 3 free headers from corners. It isn't Aguero's job to stop that, but it is someone's & normally, right in the middle of our box, you'd guess it's a centre back who is detailed to stop it.

Not convinced by either, but at least Stones is young.

Pep deserves massive credit for identifying his ability to play in central defence, where he looks a totally different player.
