If a CB leaves either it be anyone but Dias, I doubt we spent I on another CB. Mbete seems ready to make the step.

Sorry but you can only say this if you haven’t been watching Pep’s tenure. When did he ever give any Academy player a major role in the squad when they hadn’t been serious and constantly tested (and btw, he is 100% right in this approach when every point and game we play is consequential)? We had four top class and experienced CBs and even then it was a serious struggle at the end of the season. How can one think: you know what, we can afford to cut one of them? Let’s not forget that the player he improvised there when the injury crisis hit (Fernandinho) is ALSO GONE (which, God forbid, could prove a problem even if we keep the four). So there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY we would lose a CB and think that’s fine, ffs!!! If our medical staff think our current CBs aren’t physically reliable, we might even sign one regardless? Who knows

I agree with you on several points. And I very much doubt any CB will leave. Not even Ake unless he feels he is totally overlooked which he ain’t.

Well we do have Palmer. He is very versatile.

I'd take him as a replacement for Laporte but not Ake.

Seems like he has more pace than Laporte, which would make him somewhat of an upgrade in that regard but don't think he can cover LB as well as Ake has done.

I'd prefer us to sign another right-footed CB who can play on either the left or the right.

If we are unlucky enough to have Dias and Stones out I wouldn't be confident with us playing two lefties in the big games.

Laporte played very well as RCB with Pau Torres on the left of the two in the Euros last summer. So not worried if that happens for City.

If he is in good form I wouldn’t be worried, form is more important, but you are worried about ifs and buts, in terms of injuries to Dias and Stones.

TBF that incident you talk about against Italy he was playing RCB but the incident happened on the left side of the pitch which he went over to cover Torres.
