Alessio cerci

I've probably said it already, and no doubt others too, but if we are buying potential don't bother - use Weiss, or stick with SWP.

This will be a waste of money. If we spend £5m on this guy, then why didn't we put it towards Sanchez? Can only think this story is wrong. Doesn't fit in with what we said we were going to do...buy quality. I understand that we might need numbers, but that argument doesn't make sense if your loaning out a player in the same position i.e Weiss to Espanyol (was talked about)

it might be bullshit but italian media are reporting it as imminent and virtually a done deal.

The same media that was reporting we virtually had Sanchez in the bag a few weeks ago.....

hhhhmmmm

Only the other week we were hijacking a deal for a young lad at Genoa from under the noses of Milan....and that didnt happen either.

Chill folks....

Theres 2 months left of this yet!

Pre-season starts soon enough - that will be a diversion. And Copa America

Thank god some common sense is creeping into this discussion. I will back anyone we sign to the hilt but if something looks shit call it how it is.

In no way would this be a good signing for us the level we are at now is so high. We want to win a title and make it out of the group stages of champions league. We are looking at a serious step up in the calibre of player required.

I have not doubt at all this lad does not fall into that category.

I am hopeful this is bullshit. Why make investment commitments approaching £1 billion then stop at the finishing line. I can't see it.

good question. why dont you try to ask it to the ones unable to sell the deadwood ?

Agree with above, we are now in phase 2 which can only mean title. But with CL to contend with we are in completely unchartered waters. We have to improve on last season and play top sides in Europe, get drawn into CC and FA cup around Christmas time. We do not need squad players we need top class players who will put the likes of Silva Tevez etc on the Bench. Then we might have a chance. (And by putting Tevez and Silva on the bench it means to rest them and keep them fresh for Jan to May). With our current squad we can't do that. This lad looks OK but nothing better than SWP and we lose a homegrown player out of the squad. :-(

Weiss all day over this guy nearly 24 no caps for a shite italian team.

Isn't Weiss off to Rangers again, sure I have read someat somewhere going back on loan. (Fucking losing it I tell ye).

Mancini won't send Weiss back to Rangers as the Scottish league is piss poor and Mancini wants to loan Weiss to Spain (Espanyol) to continue his development. That said, didn't stop the club trying to include Weiss in a deal for Sanchez, which Weiss refused. If we need numbers and depth, I don't see why Weiss can't be an option next season. I'm not an expert on Cerci as I doubt many are as he actually hasn't played that much first team football at the top level in Italy but Weiss has Champions League experience, World Cup experience (he was better than "30m rated" Hamsik at the 2010 WC), and has improved if not to the "new Ronaldo" levels some City fans labelled him. He'd continue to improve around better players too and IMO is about equal to Albrighton who some have clamoured for us to buy.

I know plenty about him.He was one of the top prospects in Italy coming through the settore giovanilli at Roma-injuries set him back plus the typical attitude of Italian coaches not to trust young players.

Roma played him as a right winger although he is left footed.I think he is best playing off a target man on the left side.If he plays for a manager who is intelligent enough to play him to his strengths I think he could go on and fulfil his teenage promise.Towards the end of the Italian season people started to take more notice of him.I think it was a case of someone actually giving him the opportunity and the fact he remained injury free that his real potential started to show.
