I only hope our scouts are as thorough as Billy. What a genius.

I'm sure given the resources available to our club - they are incredibly thorough with scouting potential transfer targets. Which is why I said I'd be shocked if we signed him. I haven't found a single person who watches Italian football regularly who can say much positive about Cerci...

Who'd you ask? Dave?

The blind leading the blind.

so I asked around.

Not sure what else I could do mate...generally if I don't know much about a player I tend to ask people I trust who watch a lot of football for their opinions.

Beats the hell out of pretending I've seen him play, or worse still, blindly crowing about how great a signing he'll be and how excited I am simply because he's a) foreign and b) under the age of 25.

Only seen the youtube footage, I will wait

a) To see if he signs
b) Whether good or not

If he is shite then all we have lost is 5-6m which isn't the end of the world, pick up a replacement in Jan. We have nothing really to lose.

you can't sign a replacement for a July signing in January. If we had that kind of policy, most of our signings would not be here or playing anymore.

If it keeps Mancini happy fine, he hasearned the right to make calls like this. Unlike Hughes I am confident he can pick a player at least.

I am totally unconvinced Cerci he can do it in the prem but I will give him the benefit of the doubt, lets see what he can do. We dont want Hughes like signing strategy taking over again ie stick with what I know regardless of the level the club is looking for but lets see if the lad can find his spiritual home and prove us all wrong.

If we get in the quality as well and these are just squad fillers i shouldnt be a problem.

That will be the same Hughes who signed Kompany, De Jong, Tevez, and Zabaleta. Yep, Hughes can't pick a player...

YCNMIU.

Mancini's full backs...the ones who were so integral to his system...the key ingredients to his way of playing...yep, ones on his way back to Germany and the other is on his way to getting splinters in his arse once Clichy joins...

Of course...Mancini can't win. Poor Mancini. Us fans are so ignorant we just don't get it...
Quite a big finger you're pointing there, mate. Elaborate.

Mancini's record at City of giving youth it's head is shipping Nedum out on the basis that Boyata is better. Boyata then got himself sent off against Arsenal and was never seen again. Other than that - he's done fuck all for the young players coming through at our club. To be fair to him, it may well be that they're all just not good enough. My point is more in relation to the myth which is peddled by those obsessed with Hughes - which goes along the lines of: "Mancini brings through young players. Hughes would never had done that. He sent Hart out on loan, and Mancini recalled him" as if that one act makes him Arsene Wenger...

Why does everything always go back to Hughes?

Picking Hart over Given was a big call and using Boyata in some key games was similar. The fact that he took Boyata out of the firing line was sensible given that everyone was lobbing bricks at Boyata and the potential was there to do more harm than good if Mancini persisted with him. Its a judgement call and one that Mancini is paid to make.

Playing Mario in the FA Cup SF was also a big call since pretty much everyone thought it would be a disaster but it paid off. Other times it won't but it is fairly clear that if Mancini thinks the player is good enough he will play him irrespective of age.

You do need to start bringing some balance to this Mancini obsession. I can understand you loathe the guy and would like to see the back of him - I felt the same about Hughes - but endless bitching isn't the answer. Plus you have to remember that on the last three major issues - Frank, Hughes and Mancini you have been on the wrong side of the argument. Its time to call it a day and come in from the cold. Its time to kneel at the alter of the one true faith and accept the body of your saviour and lord.

All hail Roberto Mancini

Amen

Why'd you leave off the rest of Hughes' signings?

Mancini singings. You've just struck two off the list.
AJ
P.V
Kolarov
Mario Balotelli
Jerome Boateng
David Silva
Yaya Toure
Milner
Edin Dzeko

Gelling and adapting aside, Mancini can pick his players, mate. Players are also more willing to come here because of Mancini.

Edit: Not to mention, who made Zaba, Kompany really come good in the first place? De Jong even.
