Excellent LB, but would cost more than I'd ever think a LB is worth. He's got a great all round game and has been consistently oustanding in the CL in his 3 years at Porto. Doesn't score the goals that Danilo does from RB, but he's probably better defensively. Very aggressive defender, constantly trying to win the ball

Thanks. Sounds good, how is his crossing?

Would still probably cost around twice of our other targets
Pretty good, not outstanding. Dribbling is probably his most standout attacking quality, but he's all round pretty good going forwards. I think he used to be a midfielder in Brazil I believe, so he has all the technical skills to play fullback pretty comfortably

Good to hear. There were horror reports about Porto's backline given what transpired in the Europa league last season. I guess that had a lot to do with the coach?

So he could be described as Clichy with superior attacking skills? I an sold, as long as the fee is reasonable

What's his pace and stamina like?

It's laughable... same on Twitter. Don't buy players from Portugal because our signings haven't worked out!

Di Maria, Falcao, Pepe, Ronaldo, Matic, James Rodríguez, Ramires, Carvalho, Moutinho... what is the common link here?

All played in Portugal and moved from there to other European leagues! It's an absolute hotbed of talent, you just have to find the right ones, simple as.

Excellent in both.

Back from his days in Brazil, but none the less, hard to imagine any of our fullbacks being capable of anything remotely like this

Weren't you wanting us to sign him last summer, Oscar?

How good is he?

I like him a lot, if money wasn't an issue then he'd be near the top of my list of the best young leftbacks out there, but Porto paid a lot for him and will expect a lot in return (as usual). There's a lot of good attacking fullbacks, but he's got the all round game that most of the failed wingers turned wingbacks don't have. With Danilo already almost certain to go, along with Jackson Martinez, Porto will be floating in money and in no great need to let anyone else go for less than a kings ransom

The non EU status is likely to hold us back on this one. Shame as we really need to strenghten the left hand side (Winger and Defender)

I doubt that would be a problem for a player this high profile or expensive. Arsenal got a permit for that Villareal defender who is nowhere near as established as Alex Sandro without any difficulties. Price would be the one, huge, problem

Maybe we could throw fernando in as part of the deal?

And why would we do that. The lad hasn't played a full season and the throw him out bandwagon rolls merily on. Lets give him and all other newbies time to settle.

Wasn't having a go at the lad to be honest mate but in a recent interview he mentioned he had struggled with the pace of the premiership and the language barrier? Some players just don't settle so maybe he would be open to moving back?
