goal too

The defender has been linked with the Blancos for months and, on Wednesday, they finally came to an agreement with Porto for a summer move

Real Madrid have confirmed the €31.5 million signing of Porto right-back Danilo, who has signed a contract until 2021.

The Brazilian, 23, has been rumoured to be on the European champions' radar for months and Danilo confessed a week ago he was proud of being linked with Carlo Ancelotti's men.

And, on Wednesday at midnight, the two clubs announced the defender would be leaving the Dragao this summer to sign a six-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Porto hereby informs the market that it has reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the permanent transfer of Danilo for the value of €31.5m," the Portuguese club said in a statement to the stock market.

Real Madrid confirmed in their statement that Danilo would be joining the Spanish heavyweights - who reportedly saw off competition from rivals Barcelona for Danilo's signature - until June 30, 2021.

Danilo has been ever-present in Julen Lopetegui's side in his fourth season at the club, bagging four goals and four assists as Porto have romped to the last eight of the Champions League.

They face Scudetto holders Juventus for a spot in the semi-finals, while Porto are three points adrift of Primeira Liga table-toppers Benfica with eight games to go.

But Portuguese league players should be avoided according to some Bluemooners. :)

Football isn't black and white... and Porto is one of the best training grounds in world football, we just seemed to pick the wrong guy for a 2-man midfield (Fernando) and overpaid for another who will probably turn out to be one of our stalwarts (Mangala).

Should not prevent us buying from them again if we properly identify a player for a role in our system.

Porto signed Danilo for €13 million and Alex Sandro for €9.6 million and have recouped €31.5m for Danilo, they sure know how to do business Porto.

It's not like those two were unknown, both won the Copa Libertadores with Neymar at Santos in 2011.

Sadly we can't buy under the same circumstances. Their work-permit laws give them, and portuguese clubs in general big advantages.

Brazilians we struggle with but lot's of Argentinians can get in through obtaining EU passports through heritage.

Then again when Dyke's new agreement with the home office kicks in it looks like only current capped internationals will get permits, that's what I get from his plan anyway.

One thing is the Brazilians and Argentinians. Argentinians often have two passports, Italian etc. But i am pretty sure Portugal can sign Brazilians U18, whereas in England you can only sign Brazilians over 18, unless they of course have a second passport.

Real Madrid didn't hang about. That means the end for either Arbeloa or Carvajal

it is strange, they have Carvajal who is one of the best attacking FBs in europe now, don't how how they will keep both happy

Madrid need a new toy every season, and it can't be a forward position every time.

Alex Sandro (24) between Real Madrid and the two Manchester clubs. The outside of the left-handed Porto - writes O Jogo - looks set to leave the association Lusitanian at the end of the current season: the Portuguese newspaper reveals that the Merengues, the Red Devils and the citizens are ready to start an auction millionaire to win the Brazilian full-back .

It would be bizarre if the rags were really after him, given that they just spent £33m on "too fat to play" Luke Shaw, £20m on Rojo and something similar on Daley Blind. All the while they have Antonio Valencia as first choice RB. Then again, Edwah WooWaah does seem a bit clueless

i would guess this a is more obligatory put the rags name next to every City target thing

having said that, there were reports of them going for ricardo rodriguez even after they got shaw last season

they will hopefully pay 200k+ to alves on a long contract for RB

Juventus face competition from City for Porto left-back Alex Sandro (24) who impressed against Bayern Munich this evening. (via @DiMarzio)

Offer 1m€ more than Juventus. It will still surely be far less than his 50m€ (?) release clause.

From what I've read Sandro seems to be a good left back. I'd prefer Gaya, but this lad seems like a good alternative.
Sandro is a right back. But yes both are pretty decent players.
