The whole Sanchez/Bayern thing stinks of Arsenal ensuring that if/when the time comes to sell to City they get a big big fee. If Pep's identified Sanchez as the guy to give them more decisiveness in attack we'll get him.

Totally agree. Since 2010-11 we've had some poor, poor recruitment. There's been an upturn recently but we must buy top players this year because the Premier League and Champions League are much tougher than 5 years ago.This my opinion as well mate. The paymasters can work out the numbers and I think it's safe to say pep will only want the best! A summer window that starts hopefully with Sanchez, walker and Alex Sandro would certainly set the tone

We're looking to buy one of the best players from a CL contender, and financially well off club in Juventus, not to mention a player who's already one of the 3 best in his position in the world, and has improved rapidly in the last year.
Why does anyone think that'd come cheap? I think a lot of the attitudes towards him being a fullback and t therefore not worth the fee we'd spend on a CB, midfielder or forward are pretty dated.
We have a manager who expects full backs to be world class defenders, midfielders and wingers, they are probably only behind the keeper and central midfielder in terms of importance to the team, and if we can nail down the best in the world at any position for £50m, it's worth it to me, and doubly so in such an important position.

Hopefully the club have decided to give Pep the best players they can to allow him to do what he does best, which is coach players and win big trophies. If we spend £250 million on 6 players and win the league so be it. I just find it weird that people get so angry about players valuations. I can't count how many times i've read on here "FFS, we're paying how much, he's not worth that" as if it's remotely possible to tell "worth" BEFORE you've bought a player. Inevitably if a player is a success nobody will ever look at their transfer fee. And if they're a failure whether they cost 50 million or 5 million they'll get the same dog's abuse. Best to let the club decide what they are prepared to pay IMO and not get involved in arbitrary number games where you say "he's not 50 but he's worth 30". Who gives a fuck really.
