Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

Wasn't he the lad who was caught on camera at the end of Newcastle vs Liverpool saying something like "see you pre-season" to one of the Liverpool players?

Haha, I don't think he did - not publicly anyway.

Instead he doubled down and took the piss by doing a golf swing at our away end after bagging a hat-trick.

What a man.

Straight back in against Norwich and him and Aguero had the Norwich fans standing up clapping every time they scored. He took the piss but I loved him

Don't think this is a no way back situation for Isak, if Newcastle hold firm as they have to if they have any ambition, when the window shuts and he's still there, he'll have to stop whinging and get on with it and the majority of the Newcastle supporters may not like what hes done but they'll put it to one side if he starts winning them games again.

I still think the most likely scenario is he stays at Newcastle, signs a new contract with them and then perhaps he gets to leave the following summer.

What is it that Newcastle have said or done to suggest they would be prepared to keep him in spite of Liverpool's efforts?

What have they done to suggest they wouldn't?
Tried to sign replacements, named a price for him, avoided saying anything resolute in public, excluded him from training with the team while he remains their player.. you know, the usual. All which clearly says, we are up for selling this guy if you want him.

Newcastle can say he’s welcome to go but any clubs need to meet the clubs valuation which is £150m. So far no club has met that valuation.

If you want to keep the player, do you not instead just say he is not for sale. Aston Villa just did it for John McGinn.

I suppose Peps theory of not keeping an unhappy player for the greater good. He’s let everyone go except Bernardo cos we put our market value on him.

Isak's value has just risen to £250m.

And Hojlund's still worth fuck all.

Newcastle linked with Wissa and Kolo Muani. That doesn't sound good. Wissa is a very good player but I don't think much of Kolo Muani. If that is true then Newcastle might as well give up. Isak is under contract for 3 years. What are you doing? It's not like Newcastle are some no hopers and this is Isak's last chance at a league title. He's in his mid-20s.

I didn't think Newcastle would be stupid enough to sell Isak but the transfer links suggest they are planning to sell him. Could be nonsense.

You're conflating trying to sign strikers with trying to sign replacements. They wanted Mbuemo, Cunha, Delap, Pedro, Ekitike before Liverpool overtly made their interest known as they have 1 senior striker. They haven't stated a price, they have told Liverpool that they won't sell him (the reports at the bid were he wasn't for sale and Liverpool won't bid again...) and tried to get him to sign an improved contract with a release clause next year. They made him train elsewhere as he made a point of training alone at Sociedad rather than join the tour and he clearly doesn't want to be part of the group - eg it's him driving the division, not the club.

They may sell him if they feel it's untenable to move forward with him (a mistake considering their transfer window) and Liverpool meet whatever valuation they have, but it's not how you framed it

Well there are not many other options left. At this point they have to hope that they are lucky with their next target. Muani wants to join Juventus but they can’t afford him - especially with Vlahovic still being there.
