A great many footballers appear to see a contract as a one way thing that is there for them and not for both sides. A club signs the deal committed, with little get out, to pay x for y years regardless of the players performance who, could get injury very early in the contract and never play again yet, the club still has to honor it. Players seem to believe that they can effectively get out of it anyhow they choose Well, I hope they screw him big style

This is honestly embarrassing behaviour from Isak and he's being advised badly. Even that explanation fed out about how his contract wouldn't be renegotiated until they'd sorted PSR issues doesn't put him in a good light. It's not even Newcastle reneging on any agreement to let him leave etc, it's just him being greedy.

Sidenote, that transfer update was overwhelmingly deferential to Liverpool & United, while not giving us our own section, despite 3 senior players leaving & rumours abound at replacement. Really pathetic and I'm glad I just use archive.is rather than paying

Apparently Staveley told him they were upping his wages. She left and he was then told they couldn't do it. I'd be shocked IF any of the top 6-8 club in the Premier League can't afford to pay their star player the going rate.

Didn't the 3 year period for PSR reset during this summer? I get that there is a knock on effect with other players in the squad. Every other club finds financial loopholes when they need it!
They could have gifted him the women's team then bought it back for £200k p/w! lol

Not sure what mega rich owners has to do with it? PSR transcends rich owners and due to PSR they can’t allow a £120m plus asset to rot in the reserves, the dippers know this which is why their illegal approach has been made, cunts

I seem to remember when Raheem Sterling left the scousers to join us that was the treatment that he got and was accepted as normal by everyone for the way he behaved...

... and despite all that we won the league. Tevez coming back into the side helped. Norwich away was memorable and not just for the golf swing celebration!

I was thinking in terms as to how they will view it on a personal level rather than PSR Agree that it wouldn't make sense to let the asset rot in the reserves but equally so Isak wont want to either in WC year question of who blinks first I would bet Isak

If he is refusing to play then, yes, he's in breach of his contract and has a liability for potential damages if the club suffers a loss as a result. Where this goes is anybody's guess, but usually, as we've seen before, the player leaves eventually.
The bus-wrecking, whingeing, candle-lighting, bin-dipping, computer-hacking, murderous scouse cunts will probably get to steal their man, eventually, and his formerly glowing reputation as one of football's nice guys will be gone forever - but for a £10M signing on fee and £300k/week, he'll probably learn to live with that.
I hope the Geordies can get £150m for him.

I mean in terms of a club declaring their accounts for that year. The next few years may well be better projected revenues. Prize money, TV revenue and sponsorship, for example, might mean a club can afford to do the new contract on the next balance sheet?

I am no PSR expert! trying to apply some basic logic! Although that could be why I am going wrong! lol
