He is not right to say they look like bank robbers, is he? Really?

And if you think there the way to improve relations between Muslims/non-Muslims is to tell one side that they are banned from wearing a particular type of clothing, then I think you are on the wrong track

Also, can you please define ‘political correctness’ and the ‘PC brigade’ that you refer to

Is he right? Technically speaking, yes. A man dressed up in a niqab robbed banks in Wythenshawe and Cheshire a few months ago and there have been lots of examples all over this country and other countries of it happening. But I imagine he was referring to the fact that most bank robbers wear clothing that, like the niqab and burkha, conceal the face.

What is political correctness? Saying a politician is wrong to say something because it’s insensitive even if he isn’t factually wrong. PC brigade is a term I use to describe people who use PC excessively to try and silence an opinion they don’t like. These are often far-right fascists who describe themselves as being on the left.

When those Muslim terrorists shot all those journalists who worked for the satirical French magazine who took the piss out of Allah and muslims a couple of years ago, everyone was defending the right of freedom of speech and saying no one was above being taking the piss out of. Now it's a Tory With a light hearted remark the left wing media and many on here are all up in arms. Talk about double standards. Lol. Also I wonder why there is no have your say on the Borris headlines the left wing BBC are making the most of. Lol

Light hearted?

He knew what he said would cause uproar like this.

We are a divided lot us bluemooners if you read this and the Corbyn thread, I would love to get my hands on the **** who started them.

Exactly. It's a typical defence from bigots who are trying to appeal to an audience that they hope doesn't understand context or nuance. I guess in isolation and from somebody who doesn't know any better, I can sort of see how the letterbox remark might be a light-hearted joke. It wasn't though, it was pretty obvious dog whistling from somebody with form for racist remarks who has been cosying up to Steve Bannon. Furthermore, whether you think it's a funny joke or not, it's a snidey comment from a public figure (who was our foreign secretary up until a few weeks ago) that's taking a taking a swipe at a group (Muslim women) who are already on the receiving end of a disproportionate amount of violence and abuse from cowards wanting to take aim at their religion. Hardly a great target for a joke. He's a ****.

Question Time. November. 2013.
"I wouldn't want my four year old looked after by somebody wearing a burka.
I wouldn't want my elderly mum looked after by somebody wearing a burka.
They need to be able to show their face.
I wouldn't mind if they worked in records in hospitals ".
Far , far worse than Boris.
Step forward Emily Thornberry.
Our dear shadow foreign secretary.
Where is the outrage over this useless woman ?
When she was shadow defence secretary, she asked a room full of top brass.
"CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT DEFCON ONE MEANS ?".
Well informed MP that one.
