Johnsons Grandfather was a Turkish Ottoman politician and presumably a Muslim
Boris refers to Turks as his "fellow turks",i doubt he has anything of note against Muslims as a whole,he has an opinion on the burkah,is that not allowed ? to have an opinion
He doesnt have many friends in the media ,they are all metropolitan left wing so called elite and they hate him as much as labour voters do

Our media is a metropolitan left wing??

Do me a favour, even the sensible right wing don't peddle this myth anymore

People are largely missing the point here.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Muslims, they are just the convenient minority group chosen to further Johnson's aims.

The aim is to elevate himself to the position of 'leader' along the lines of Trump. Just like Trump he is setting the news agenda, it doesn't matter one jot that it's nonsense.

The end game is that he becomes PM and sadly I think he's in with a good shout. His friends in the press and media will play along and before you know it the Tory party and large sections of the public will see him as the solution to our problems.

The furore over his article is exactly what he wants. It's right out of the Steve Bannon playbook, who by chance Johnson is reported to have met just before penning the article and goes like this:

• Deliberately say something offensive about a minority
• Call those offended "snowflakes"
• Pretend to be victim of censorship
• Now YOU'RE the victim, not the minority you abused

With the sad excuse for a 'free press' that we have (and I include the BBC in that) it's all so simple.

And right on cue Mr. Farage paints Johnson as a victim. I doubt they even colluded, Farage knows the playbook so well he wouldn't have even needed a nudge.

Steve Gammon, sorry Bannon's campaign seems to working here. Aided by Boris, Gove,Farage and other power hungry middle aged white men concerned with their power and influence more ghan yhr people they represent.

He’s correct but not politically correct. They do look ridiculous. It’s a difficult line to tread cos if it leads to more hate crimes against hijab wearers then he’s made a big mistake but at the same time, if he makes a few more full-face veil wearers think ‘you know what, I look terrible’ then it could be a good thing. Also, excessive political correctness often breeds more contempt and tension among communities than if politicians just came out and said what most normal people think - something that the PC brigade fail to understand. It would be another bad day for individual liberty if the full-face veil was banned but the idea that you can wear what you want in society has never existed anyway so I sometimes wonder whether relations between Muslims and non-Muslims would be better if it was just banned because, until it is, it will remain a sticking point for non-Muslims and they will continue to identify Islam with the extreme parts of the religion and culture.

He is not right to say they look like bank robbers, is he? Really?

And if you think there the way to improve relations between Muslims/non-Muslims is to tell one side that they are banned from wearing a particular type of clothing, then I think you are on the wrong track

Also, can you please define ‘political correctness’ and the ‘PC brigade’ that you refer to

He just needs to show a bit of respect over anything else really because for all he knows some of those women might of voted for him one day and now they might think twice.

I think some blokes who wear dresses look stupid but I wouldn't tell them and I certainly wouldn't feel the need to tell everyone in an article in the Evening Standard.
