JRM's attempt to defend Johnson on Newsnight right now is comedy gold - muddled, mistaken and laughable - just called the Leader of the Scottish Conservatives " a lightweight figure" - open warfare in the Tory Party tonight
Surprised he is on as they never usually are!

His “apology”/excuse in the Commons today was laughable, and he cut a fairly pathetic figure. Still wouldn’t surprise me if he managed to ride this out, but shame on the Conservative party if he does. They’re morally bankrupt.

That’s the big thing about today for me - the depths his colleagues are willing to go. It is knowingly normalising behaviour that is so far past what was previously deemed even remotely acceptable.

It has got to the point now that anyone that would vote for them is either immensely stupid and doesn’t understand just how damaging all of their actions are or they are complete and utter wankers themselves. The worrying thing is that even though there’s been a significant shift, that’s still apparently 28% of the electorate….

The electorate should remember every single one of them that has gone out to bat for him tonight. They’re all complicit in this.

What a bizarre human being that is. A mealy mouthed relic of a bygone age.
You‘re right though - let’s hope it’s a savage, bloody civil war.

Its even better that he remember now exactly how long he spend at this none party event. You wonder how many many canapes he and wine he quaffed in such a short space of time?

You see people are pulling it apart again already. He said that he thought it was a work event..... however he said also that he should have called them all back inside......why? If he thought it was a work event and OK why would he have thought he should break it all up? As I say the injection of too much fictional detail which is contradictory is what gets them in the end.

can you imagine the shot in the arm that is for the SNP? They can tell Tories and Tory voters senior ENGLISH Tories think they are led by a lightweight north of the border....... tough to campaign on the strength of the union when that happens
