This calendar year he has had 18 opportunities to ask the PM questions. 17 have been about cake. I couldn’t give a fuck if some staff had a drink in work anymore. He’s done it too. I want to him to challenge about energy prices. Jobs. Tensions in the east. Coronavirus measures to help businesses.

He’s no credible opposition. All he’s after is trying to remove someone from a job. Raynor is worse. Imagine her well renowned diplomacy skills if she had to talk to Putin if Starmer was unavailable. We’d be blown out of existence!!
So I asked why one poster can't stand Starmer, you decided to reply on his behalf, saying you think he's asked questions about the wrong things. Thanks for that.

BTW, lots of people think that it was wrong for no 10 to be partying while the rest of us were in lockdown. Lots of people aren't that fussed about that but are much more concerned about the cover up and the apparent fact that the PM has lied to Parliament.

You apparently aren't bothered by any of that, but Starmer's message is clear that the PM can't be trusted.

That's quite an important message.

You don't understand what is going on. The questions are NOT about cake per se it is far more important than that it is about lying to us and Parliament. We must be able to trust the person in the highest position in the country. Lying puts into doubt everything someone says. Think about that. How important it is that the PM should be trusted to tell the truth. We are not talking about spinning the truth but not telling the truth.
I know exactly what's going on but thank you for your patronising comment.

The inquiries will uncover whether he lied or not. If he did, he has to go. Simple.

As an opposition leader I want to see challenges on the important matters facing us, not someone, backed by trade unions no less, trying to get someone sacked to further his own career. I've never been able to take to people in business, or any walk of life, who behave in this way. Starmer is just a distraction to the real business.

Anyway the highest position in the country is Pep!

Not sure what your point is. I said labour aren't perfect but we all know for every Labour MP taking the piss you can find 10 tories doing worse.

When Labour MPs get found out it tends to finish them, tories often end up getting promoted.

"If" really tickled me.

So many people are fucking fruit loops when it comes to politics. It's like football or Britain's Got Talent to them. It's embarrassing.

All these big issues are valid and need attention but, they need to be tackled by a Government fit to govern.

Starmer is correctly and consistently highlighting this point.

If you think it is just about cake and drinks, then that is your prerogative

I did want to start on a new thread on this but considering the fact that this bird brained far right ideology is all about saving boneheads bacon I resisted the temptation,

The latest brain fart is that plans are afoot to change the period which an unemployed person has to take a job in their chosen skill sector has been reduced from 3 months to 4 weeks. Which on the face of it sounds like a common sense. The reality is that when you are in this position (which I have am not or have not been) trying to find and be able secure a role in 4 weeks is a tall order to say the least.

IF you consider the fact that most skilled jobs have a months notice and you are lucky enough to get straight back into employment the chance are under the new regime you are going to be a few weeks with no money. The alternative ius that you take a lower paid job of any description so you can pay the rent and keep food on the table (if you are lucky and the job pays enough?

It then begs the question what is the point for young people studying and developing skills? If you become an engineer which I believe can be quite precarious from time to time. For example the company takes on lots of apprentices and some of them are let go when they are qualified and we have to pay them a proper wage () am sure that this is the same for many companies). this is exactly what the big accountancy firm like POWC et al does with its auditors.

The only question is how do you get the bus loads from the north down to the south to pick fruit and work in hotels and get the back each day?

They are panicking - the idea that there are 1.2m vacancies as a headline figure looks good after years of high unemployment etc. However the reality is that is very damaging to an economy. If there really are that many vacancies that means there are millions of man/woman hours of work not been done each week. That is damaging to businesses trying to do their work making our notoriously poorly performing economy in terms of production even worse.

I was made aware of an interesting change of tone yesterday. Johnson et al have been banging on about "record numbers in work " and " more people in work than pre-pandemic". Thats not true - hence Johnson changed his tune in PMQ's yesterday and said instead that "there are more people on the payroll".

What does that tell us? Basically the myth of high paid high skilled jobs is laid bare. More people on the payroll means that more and more people are working two low paid jobs to make ends meet.

And that is precisely the direction of travel with the US is the case in point where people are working 2 and 3 jobs and still on the breadline.

You’re forgetting the hullabaloo over Geronimo the alpaca (RIP). Johnson probably saw saving animals as a potential vote winner, not job loser.
When geronimo had the post mortum he had no TB , the owner was right and they should have given him the test she was asking for

As you were

This morning I heard Boris answering a question about the tax rise for social care and NHS, this used to be Labour party ideology but the Conservatives are now taking this up.
The interviewer said “taking money off working people“ ( I sometimes wonder how we can pay for it if its not off working people.)
Maybe I’ve missed it but we don’t seem to care what happens to the poor sick and disabled anymore.
Labour will lose out if they don’t shout loudly about core values, Brexit is a distraction the Torys won that one but the next battle is paying for social care and the NHS and Boris has already started his electioneering
