His career certainly seems to have rocketed and then gone haywire.

Downing St Perm Sec for 3 months (after there hadn't been one for years), appointed to the top Civil Service post very young, made head of the Sue Gray enquiry but has to step down as one party was in his office (replaced by Sue Gray), sends letter saying that 1/5 of the civil service will be got rid of, thrown under bus. All in 2 years.
