Fair enough, and I confess I do find Johnson utterly loathsome.

However his entire aim in politics is simply to stay in power, so I am not seeing how it changes anything or why the country will be paralysed.

I thought you were arguing that we shouldn't have a leadership challenge or possible election because of the problems right now, apologies if that wasn't what you were saying.

Think he meant we’re now paralysed with Johnson remaining in power with that amount of dissenting voices even in his own parliamentary party.

It’s not just him that’s the issue, there’s a lot of conservatives that are going to more and more absurd lengths to keep him in power too, which is just increasing the damage to our constitution and parliament as a whole.

I am absolutely sick of hearing people justify their own stupidity with the “what’s the alternative?” piece of whataboutery. Radio 5 was full of daft tories spouting it to absolve themselves of their part in this national embarrassment.

The alternative is anyone who can tell the truth,
not be a self serving cock and make sensible decisions, for fucks sake.

I dont see it that way. The vote forced by Labour tomorrow will be interesting. Many MPs dont like being forced to do unpopular things to back him. There is a good chance that vote goes through tomorrow.

"For in a democracy, every citizen, regardless of his interest in politics, 'hold office'; everyone of us is in a position of responsibility; and, in the final analysis, the kind of government we get depends upon how we fulfill those responsibilities. We, the people, are the boss, and we will get the kind of political leadership, be it good or bad, that we demand and deserve.“
