The reason for these nominally left wing policies is to mitigate the disastrously self inflicted wounds to the economy primarily because of the dogmatic implementation of Brexit which has led to people having to choose between heating and eating.

I’m not sure brexit can be held up as why we had furlough though nor is it responsible for the current cost of living and inflation - the EU have all the same problems we do. In any case brexit was voted for by those on the left and right - naturally you’d expect the left to have voted enmasse to keep in the EU but it’s a strange world we find ourselves in these days.

True. Also not sure any of his rivals (or Starmer for that matter) would really want to take charge just yet. They'd probably rather let BJ soak up the damage until the current economic downturn bottoms out and then take credit for the recovery.

Yep and looking ahead economics wise it ain’t looking good for the next 12 months labour be happy to sit back and watch the cons combust within for 18 months! Like I said though if he lasts and can see a general election next 12 months.
 
Reckon he will be pushed out within 6 months with successor solving the NI issue amongst others by rejoining the single market.

Yeah you could be right with politics though a week is a long time! The way Boris is though he will outdo how long May lasted.
