Who also weren't without their own controversies, such as Lloyd-George's advocation of Hitler as "the greatest living German".

Churchill was a twat, so was Thatcher, and Blair was a bare faced liar who cost tens of thousands of people their lives. Probably the three most effective and memorable Prime Ministers in this country’s history.
churchill wins on body count, thatcher on soul-destroying and blair for party-wrecking.

Disraeli? Gladstone? Peel? And without being twats or liars. Well, maybe Peel a bit of a twat during the Irish famine - which it took 150 years to get an apology for (from Blair. .)

Ok, three of the most effective. By the way didn’t Lloyd George fall from grace after selling peerages and other honours?

No he was the one who bought shares in marconi knowing it was gonna get big contracts and guided us through WW1, started off the process of implementing a welfare state of sorts
Though he did praise hitler in the 30s (but then so did most) but hated Chamberland so much he opposed appeasement in the end
