You can’t really have that because neither of the main political parties is solidly behind their leader, and neither has a coherent and considered manifesto. The Conservatives in the House are still horribly divided, Johnson’s removal doesn’t change that, and Labour‘s grass roots aren’t fully behind Starmer; they’re also not ready for an election this year. That means neither party is prepared to address the very real issues facing the country today or this year, so more chaos lies ahead. To be honest I want a period of boring competence in politics. Just to give my head a rest.
calling Theresa May ……
Oh no he hasn't. He's staying till pantomime season.he has gone, thank god.
If you want boring competence then Starmer is your man?To be honest I want a period of boring competence in politics. Just to give my head a rest.
Nobody with long-term political ambitions would touch the job- far better to wait a couple of years- so another short-term vanity project is more than likely. The worry is that Tory leaders have been getting progressively worse. Cameron, to May, to Johnson. Could end up with someone like Truss next.
All the above, as well as being correct, suitably demonstrates how utterly broken our political system is.You can’t really have that because neither of the main political parties is solidly behind their leader, and neither has a coherent and considered manifesto. Surely a General Election has to be called asap when a new leader is in place as they wouldn't have a mandate from the public?
i have a slight fear the deluded sod will try and stay on as some never ending caretaker role.

Which is why changing the leader really won’t make a jot of difference. The public has deluded itself into thinking a referendum vote can immediately resolve deep-rooted problems, or that changing a personality at the top will fundamentally make things better. It can’t and it won’t.All the above, as well as being correct, suitably demonstrates how utterly broken our political system is.

A dozen Tory MPs in the HoC while Ellis the Paymaster General says government is "functioning as normal".
SNP MP says it's the HMG Ghost Ship with a skeleton crew.
Barry Sherman (Labour) says we should work cross-party in this crisis: "I've got lots of experience in education".
