Alexis Sanchez

Arsene Wenger was asked if City target Alexis Sanchez (as well as Ozil) would still be at Arsenal on Feb 1.

"In my head they will stay until the end of the season. That is the decision I made. January? No. Unless something unbelievable happens I don't think that will change."

While they were on the subject of what goes on in Arsene's head did they ask him how optimistic he was about winning their 21st consecutive title?

Clear reference to signing Sterling.... ;-)

I think h will stay until the end of the season now, I can't see why Arsenal would risk losing 4th spot for the sake of £25 million.

Sanchez seems to have out his disappointment behind him and is finding some form again.

Hopefully he plays a blinder on Sunday against the rags at weekend.

Agree. It will be some astronomical singing on fee he will command next summer when he's on a free.

A long time and lots of games until we get to January, if one of Jesus or Aguero suffered any kind of medium to long term injury, we'd have to make the move in Jan for Sanchez

Maybe the appointment of our new "Head of Football Relations" (ridiculous title) from Barclona will help smooth negotiations, although he isn't meant to start until February.

A shame he’s ended up that way. A lot of folk, myself included, used to respect him.

I used to admire him, the way he added attacking flair to Arsenal's traditional inspired thuggary.

A fantastic mixture at the time. As they got further away from Don Howe & became more 100% Wenger, they became content to just sit there behind Utd, & often gave them an easy ride, which pissed me off no end, even before City became contenders. I gradually developed a strong dislike for him which, after his pathetic, bitter, reaction to City providing much needed competition in the league, has now reached the stage where I can't abide the whining old ****.

But at one stage, I did have a lot of time for him & for Arsenal.

Always thought that much would depend on Arsenal's form in the spell before Christmas. Had Spurs drawn and Burnley taken a point as well, Arsenal would be 8th today, sixteen points behind us, and the clamour for Wenger's head (and all thoughts therein) would probably have been deafening. Fine margins.

Was convinced he would join in the summer but can’t see it happening in January.

Doesn’t 4th go directly into the CL next season, meaning they don’t have to play qualifiers? Even more incentive for them to keep Ozil and Sanchez.

On the other hand they could get £40-50m for them both in January. But they won’t sell without bringing in at least one replacement which looks unlikey in January.

I would be delighted if we managed to pull this deal off but it’s quite the long shot. Don’t understand why so many posters are so convinced. Wenger is a bitter old fool that would keep him to spite us and Sanchez both. More so Sanchez as he would watch City likely win the league thinking about why he’s not there lifting the trophy.

The way the refs are handing out points to Arsenal this season they are pretty much guaranteed top four. They might have got a couple of bad calls at our place but decisions overall have been massively in their favour.
