Must have been given some encouragement or we'd have moved on long ago.
That's an understatement. He was telling arsenal players he wanted to join us months ago

Will be before deadline day as he's got a game for chile on that day hasn't he!?We probably have a 45m offer on the table.
Do we up the bid to 70m now and then see Arsenal ask for 75m or 80m?
Or do we slowly go to 55-60m and put Arsenal in the position or taking that figure or keeping Sanchez, missing top 4 anyway, lose 55-60m and have to spend that much anyway to replace him.
Some logic would do a lot posters good in this thread.
This could go to deadline day but it will get done, Arsenal will give in, it's clear they won't be replacing Sanchez so this works in their favor.
Cue the offer was too good to refuse, Sanchez wanted out, unfortunately we didn't have enough time to bring in the replacement. In reality Lacazette is the replacement, Giroud staying confirmed this. Arsenal never planned to buy another attacker.
We knew we were in for Mendy and Walker long before they signed.
We own a club around the corner in Uruguay. So Chile have a crucial World Cup qualifier vs Paraguay on Thursday at 23:30 (BST). I imagine he'll fly out Tuesday night, Wednesday morning at the latest, given they'll have training on the Wednesday, although he might just go straight into the 11 anyhow. So we have 24-36 hours to get it sorted, unless we can send the required people to Chile to get the medical/paperwork done. If anything happens it looks like we'll be cutting it fine.
