Alexis Sanchez

You would imagine they would distance themselves from it, by now.

Otherwise they are risking total humiliation, offering him the world to sign & he says 'nah, I'll wait & sign for City'.
Which is why we are still in there . If he's gone to that lot then why the silence from City ? No , there's more to this than meet the eye. This is very much still on imo .

The problem with this stance is it doesn't have a very high success rate does it? We tried it with Hazard, we tried it with RVP, we tried it with Alves. And they all went for the money. If the rumours are true and we add Sanchez to this list then the club really needs to have a think about their "the player will choose us over money" strategy.

It has a great success rate.

We have therefore signed players, who want to be here.

We are 15 points clear, playing the best football we have ever seen, with players who are totally committed to working their balls off for the team & have a fantastic team spirit.

Fuck paying for some ****'s retirement plan, that's what Utd now do.

yet here we sit 15 points clear and 30 wins form 33 games this season.

Im not saying it doesn't hurt to lose a player but its hardly a disaster for us either is it?

Oh so we've already won the league then? I hate this arrogance. A few bad games and the table soon changes. We haven't won fuck all and an injury to Aguero or a complication in Jesus' recovery and we're faced with the prospect of sticking Sterling or one of the kids up front in the champions league or important league games.

Im still sat here thinking there is no way a fee and personal trms have been agreed with the rags without this being all over the news and official given we play later today, no way.

Hard to know blueinsa , sometimes these things move quickly.

The fact he hasn't travelled with the squad is significant ( stating the obvious I know unless injured ).

Could be the case Arsenal have made progress on his replacement.

If he joins them I won't lose any sleep.

We can target and get a younger player on smaller wages in the summer.

If and after we say no to being screwed by Arsenal/Sanchez and the player is truly worth £100M then yes it will cost £100M. However if we pay way over the odds then it would probably cost us £150M. You only have to look at what the rags paid for Pogba and Lukaku to see the on going impact of looking like a desperate and soft touch. When was the last time Spurs got screwed for a player? There is a reason for that.
When was the last time Spurs won anything? There is a reason for that

I don’t think I’d use Spurs as an example of how to establish a dynasty.

It’s not arrogance. 15 points clear is pretty much done and dusted, 16 points if you add in goal difference.

Like i've said, why are you never involved in positive discussion on here?

Pre and post match threads?

Your thoughts on us being 15 points clear? Unbeaten? Breaking records left, right and centre?

Lost of posters are negative at times but they balance it out in the main by also seemingly enjoying our football, club, manager and players and saying so far more.

You should have a think about that and maybe give it a go and then most wont jump all over the negative when you want to express it?
My thoughts on the positive things you mention. Absolutely fantastic, best time ever to be a blue.

I absolutely accept that I am an eternal pessimist where City are concerned (still) and still can't avoid the typical city mentality.

My initial thoughts were purely on the short sighted position we have taken on Sanchez and I then added in the fact that I think we will lose this afternoon given our record there and the law of averages.

However the bright sparks then get all worked up.

Funny how there was no similar response when Tolmie had a similar position on Sanchez and also when he continuously predicts us to get our arses handed on a plate.

I will obviously have to continue to be the villain if I have an opinion that doesn't fit with the people who shout loudest.

We are top of the league unbeaten 15 points clear and im more than happy with Walker

But yet as a club we spunked 27 million on an average RB in Danilo as a result.

Not only that, but what about the knock on effect this has on Maffeo who has been outstanding against the top opposition in La Liga this season?

Wilshere is injured and travelled. The transfer is imminent ie today.

I'm totally happy if we've offered as much as we think Sanchez is worth and he chooses to go elsewhere, even if it's Utd. £35m is not "still great value" if we end up paying him £400,000pw. The actual value of the transfer is far higher if we suddenly have De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, Jesus, etc. all believing they should all be on comparable wages, not to mention any future signings we make.

Sanchez is 29 and will only decline in form and value if he did join us. I'd love to sign him this window, but if we're convinced it's a bad deal then i'm perfectly happy for Utd to take him.

Sure, we may end up paying £80m-£120m for an alternative in the summer. If that player is on half the wages, is in his early 20's and grows with the team in the way that De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, etc. all have then that's a way better deal than this one for Sanchez looks.

That's a great post & I couldn't agree more.

But no agent is going to come in and demand to a club that they get £400,000 a week. They will demand an overall financial package and it will be up to the club to decide how they pay it. Whether that is in easy to achieve bonuses or a bigger signing on fee, that will all add to the overall deal. The rumoured KDB signing on fee for his new deal is staggering and we already own him!

I think that the weekly wage is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to players finances. It also wouldn't be difficult to pay any player the package Sanchez wants whilst getting them to accept a wage of around £200,000 a week.
Maybe. Personally I suspect the reason we've gone cold on this is more to do with the goal posts shifting in terms of his wage than giving a relatively small bit extra to Arsenal or a fee to his agent. If that is the case then I assume there is a good reason why the club don't feel we can give him what he wants.

Ive stated facts, nothing else yet you go off on one claiming ive said we have won the league when i very clearly have not.

Discuss my post by all means but dont make things up and then argue with me pmsl.
