Alexis Sanchez

It's not Sanchez' decision, it's Arsenal's.

If we trust him to sign for City, we would be a right bunch of stupid ****s, to go & offer Arsenal, an extra ten million quid, when we 'know' he has said he will stick it out & come here.

We do not want a player who changes that agreement, for more money.

The problem with this stance is it doesn't have a very high success rate does it? We tried it with Hazard, we tried it with RVP, we tried it with Alves. And they all went for the money. If the rumours are true and we add Sanchez to this list then the club really needs to have a think about their "the player will choose us over money" strategy.

If he does sign for United, we can dress it up all we like by saying, too old, too expensive, no ambition etc but the fact is, Pep wanted him, he'd improve our squad, he's premiership proven and we need someone up front.
This is possibly the second time in 8 months that we seem to have relied on the fact that they have wanted to play for Pep but gone elsewhere
Yeah because times have been hard since we missed out on Alves, right?

If he does come to us it will be an absolutely massive!!!! Turning point for the club! Comes for less money, less wages but more chance of winning trophies! I never thought I would see the day!!

This has got nothing to do with Txiki. It’s all on Sanchez.
Not getting him has a lot to do with setting the £20m max transfer fee to Arsenal. I don't know who decided to do that?

That made the agent look for clubs, because Sanchez wanted to leave and told other clubs we would not compete and encouraged United when it seemed we had the transfer to us sorted.

IMO we tried to rip off Arsenal because of what happened in summer and it backfired.

yet here we sit 15 points clear and 30 wins form 33 games this season.

Im not saying it doesn't hurt to lose a player but its hardly a disaster for us either is it?

Yeah fair enough, that would be sweet though.

It would be hilarious.

It is already a considerable humiliation that they have to do this for a 29 year old player. Again, it shows they have no plan. As with RVP under Ferguson, they are desperately hoping he will drag them through, because they have run out of ideas.

RVP was seen as a huge coup, but it was the end of Utd as the machine they once were. This just rubber stamps it (along with Ibra).

Some very knowledgable people on this thread continually dismiss the obvious as flapping, it’s been clear since Friday that the rags were balls deep for him, we’d made it clear we had a limit and that was that.
When wenger said no bidding war he meant it, coz we ain’t getting involved.
When peg said you have to try and sign world class players he meant it.
If we expect pep to stay for many years further we’d better mean it to.
Stop talking sense mate. You'll be written off as a rag if you aren't careful.

Looks like we thought we were the only game in town and thus thought we could play hardball with Arsenal. United saw a chink of light and drove a bus through it.
Alexis now has a Messi like offer on the table.

Maybe we grew cold on Alexis after the start we have had. Then warmed up a bit with Gabs injury. He is a defining signing for them. But wouldn't be for us.

Think we have made a mistake not getting this done before United's desperation entered the scene.

Pep is hardly going to be welcoming of a player who goes back on his word.... I'm sure the spin will be that Arsenal gave him no choice....

Im still sat here thinking there is no way a fee and personal trms have been agreed with the rags without this being all over the news and official given we play later today, no way.

Truth. Everyone taking shots in the dark at the moment.

I think that is true to an extent but it is nowhere near the same as someone at the same club earning 400k. There are already players at united earning far more as a basic wage than City players currently but we have still been able to keep our wage structure the way we want it and use performance bonuses rather than offer basic wages as high as united's.

But no agent is going to come in and demand to a club that they get £400,000 a week. They will demand an overall financial package and it will be up to the club to decide how they pay it. Whether that is in easy to achieve bonuses or a bigger signing on fee, that will all add to the overall deal. The rumoured KDB signing on fee for his new deal is staggering and we already own him!

I think that the weekly wage is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to players finances. It also wouldn't be difficult to pay any player the package Sanchez wants whilst getting them to accept a wage of around £200,000 a week.
