Alexis Sanchez

I think people are deluding themselves if they think a) Sanchez to United might not yet happen and b) that United were only trying to call City’s bluff.

They’re paying a lot of money to get a very good player, but ultimately they can afford it even if the sums involved are ridiculous. As Guardiola said, we’ll find another solution.

Not sure how you know this not to be the case Ric but they don't half seem like the drunk guy at a charity auction who has played the big man in front of his mates then realised he's been a berk but his mates are still there watching so he's got to follow through.

If John Cross's latest report is right about Sanchez leaving the team hotel after saying goodbye to the Arsenal team then it seems it's done.

You missed the last sentence.....And still continue to finish above them in the league

I am not my brother's keeper

What's your point, Jack? Who are you asking us to be magnanimous to? To you? Well we never insulted or derided you - in fact, I'd say we've made you quite welcome. To Arsenal FC? Don't think they care two hoots about our empathy - they are plenty rich and they have their own supporters to appease. To Wenger? Yeah right, after he took Sterling to the woodshed and impugned his character over what in fact everyone else agreed was a fair penalty.

Yes, Pep would not have Sanchez now if he came crawling. He has shot his bolt. This is all about United getting their ducks in a row to push this through as probably one or two players have seen the sums being paid and gone quackers.

Once they get them quiet and can persuade Mickey whatsit to leave it will all be set up for Sanchez to debut live to the nation on BBC 1 next Friday and score a hat trick v mighty Yeovil to hail the changing of the guard in English football and the assault on Everest for Queen and country.

Oh and the Pep is frustrated at losing Sanchez and off to PSG stories have started from whatever rock they were hiding under.

Meanwhile in a galaxy far far away from the back pages the leaders play somebody or other in a trivial game of no importance tomorrow.

They can afford it because they generate ...I think it's 100m per year more than us

I don't care because I am more than happy with our on/off the pitch situation

I dunno, it just seems much more plausible to me that United are pushing ahead with a £180m deal because they actually want the player, rather than it being an elaborate ruse that went horribly wrong.

Confirms it was wage structure at the bottom of pulling out of the deal. I think we were right on this occasion.
Especially when we're in the middle of negotiating new contracts with Dinho, Ota and KdB, throwing £500k a week at a 29 year old would've been both stupid and foolish to say the least. This one deal would've thrown the whole transfer structure and business plan up for years to come, we're in a good place at the moment and don't need to panic buy, we'll just leave that to the desperate ones across the road.
