Alexis Sanchez

I guess some people just refuse to acknowledge the reality in front of them. I provided substantial evidence to back my claim that he is unlikely, on the basis of last season, to be given sufficient game time. Furthermore, signing Sanchez would further limit his game time. This really isn't rocket science. If Sanchez plays then either Jesus or Sergio sits on the bench. What don't you understand about this? It's like communicating with an inanimate object. You don't listen to reason and you don't consider the evidence. I didn't even enter Bernardo and Sterling into this equation, which will even further limit his game time.

It seems to be a widely held view on here that if we were to sign Mbappe in addition to Sanchez then Sergio would be sold. Now, why would it be Sergio that is sold? Why not Jesus? You see, subconsciously, most people acknowledge that Jesus will be given substantially more game time. Whether they come to admit that is another matter. In a vain attempt to validate your argument you point to a couple of games at the tail end of the season. And from this you are able to ridiculously conclude that Sergio will get lots of game time? It's madness. You ignore 98% of the season and draw your conclusions from a couple of performances against teams that were already on holiday.

In the big games Pep preferred not to play Sergio last season and he is therefore even more unlikely to select him next season if he is given further options in attack. This is a logical assertion. It follows the evidence and is backed up by sound reasoning. It is not petulant insult, as if that somehow proves anything other than your inability to construct a single reasoned argument..

Which big games didn't he pay in ? including the reason, which ones were tactical,he was banned for and coming back from the foot injury he had?

Pep,khaldoon and sergio all say he is staying, sergio has today said he is very happy and will be staying for the last 2 yrs he has,pep has repeatedly said sergio will stay for a long as he wants too

Sounds to me like Arsenal might be in a position where they have to sell him in order to get their business done. No Champions League money this year either.

If that was to be the case, you think it would be in our best interests to get the deal done early, so we'll see if that comes about. I'd imagine it will be that we could have different targets if we are looking to build with Sanchez and Ozil staying, compared to if they were to leave. It might even affect other potential outgoings such as Giroud for instance.

He was dropped for Barca away...

Also when Jesus came in it was clear as day he will take his place....what has happened however, is different permutations to the attack, which in fact helps Sergio, although he is the one of the potential 5 who isn't as flexible..

They will all get playing time, agreed, the op neglects the ability of Sanchez wide left, however, those of us who banged on about flexibility in peps attacks will get to see it at full throttle next season!

Worth remembering though that Aguero in November and January was half the player he was in May. By the time Jesus came back he was doing everything Pep wanted, and as a result, Jesus was the one shunted wide and presumably down the pecking order.

Also, with Alves/Walker/Mendy coming in , width from that front 3 will be less important, so Aguero nominally playing on the right/left or at least interchanging and ending up there won't be unheard of IMO - he already showed a lot of drifting deep and wide in those last few games of the season.

I'm pretty sure Pep will keep everyone happy and everyone delivering.

Funnily enough if Pep can get Aguero to be flexible in a front 3, the World Cup will be much happier for Argentina next season.

So anybody that doesn't share your opinion is a rag in disguise? This is where the discussion ends. You resort to sly insults because you failed to make a reasoned argument in support of your view. Go argue with children, where you may have better success.

There were sighns towards the end of the season that aguero and pep were starting to understand each other more. I can't see why you think it's impossible for Jesus, aguero and Sanchez to play at the same time.... Sanchez on left Jesus up top with aguero slightly behind and a choice for who plays attacking right side.

Immediately, the Barcelona game comes to mind, where Pep preferred to play KDB up top. This was even before Jesus arrived and the decision appears to be purely tactical (and was claimed as such by the manager). It was claimed by the manager to be the most important game of the season. You also have the 5 games (if I'm not mistaken) where he was dropped for Jesus, immediately after Jesus arrived. Clearly, in the first half of the season, he started most games, except for a couple against the bottom sides where Kelechi started. The key statistic is that when both Jesus and Aguero were available for selection I believe that Sergio started in just two or three games (I could be wrong, but that is my recollection).

I don't doubt that he is likely to stay. I don't think that it's a certainty, but it seems very likely given the statements made by the club's management. However, Sergio will obviously not be allowed to stay as long as he wants. There will come a time when the club decides not to renew his contract, if the player does not make that decision himself. I never claimed that I believed he would leave before next season. I just stated my belief that he is likely to receive very limited game time if we sign Sanchez. If we don't sign Sanchez then that is a different story.

Local reporter Gerard Romero says player & City have come to an agreement, agreement between clubs of course won't be so easy

Next season is going to be a squad that has quality in depth that will be rotated its up to all the players to apply and adapt to that if they want to win trophys if not Pep will be more than happy enough to show them where the door is and in honesty i can not wait its something we will have not seen at City for some time :)
