Everyone keeps using £50m. I can see them asking for £60m-£70m. You can't replace him for £50m, and that's one year of Champs League.

So basically, he probably won't sign the new deal, would like to leave but the ball is in Arsenal's court whether to sell him now or keep him until the end of his contract. Is that not what we've been debating what will happen the last 900 pages or so?

It's the fact that he's been so open in public about it. As far as I've seen, so far he's been avoiding questions and saying things like "I'll let you know my decision later". Now he's obviously implying he wants to leave.

Like you say, nothing new really other than this response more than likely leading to Wenger having to answer more direct questions to the press.

He has basically said he has asked to leave and when you look at the full transcript of the interview, its clear which club he has set his heart on joining.

But we all kind of knew that would be the case anyway, and we all know the City is really the only club left in the running. It was always going to come down whether Arsenal sell him now or insist on him staying.

The only real thing I can see different to what we know on here is that the reality is starting to sink in over in Arse Mania.

No way do Arsenal or any club for that matter, even us lose out on a fee of this magnitude with a player going into his final year and knowing he wont sign a new contract.

Arsenal will sell.

Arsenal don't really have a choice now. He wants to go, and can go for free in 12 months. When they think about it from a purely business point of view taking all emotion out of it, they really have only one option. And if ever there was a club run as a business before a football club, its Arsenal. He will leave them the minute they move away from the denial and anger phases into the acceptance phase.

Can't believe anyone would think that Arsenal would allow him to run his contract down and leave on a free, lol.
