Guessing that's the nuclear option, destroying your relationship with the fans and jeopardising any loyalty payments. Just speculating, of course, but presumably he'd prefer it to be done amicably if possible? If that's not an option, as Wenger seems to suggest, then he has a tough call over whether to force it now or ride it out for another year.
He's gambled and presumed Wenger would wilt like he has in the past but to no avail, I'm hoping Chelsea spank them this weekend and a request goes in on Monday, you can't blame the lad for having the ambition to play in the top competition which will have the Gooners frothing at the mouth? lol

It's all a load of fucking cobblers until we either chuck a bid in, or Sanchez hands in a transfer request. Don't tell me he thought Wenger would just roll over and say "yeah, no worries, course you can go to City".

Fucking irritates me no end, if he wants to come to us then hand in a request, that's what we've been told he was going to do.

How does it work with transfer requests? If a player puts a transfer request in, what does that actually do? Is the club obliged to sell? I am guessing not - since there may be no buyers, or no buyers offering appropriate terms. So I am not sure what purpose a transfer request actually serves, other than to burn your bridges with the fans and get boo'd at every game. I must be missing something.

If it that was straightforward it begs the question why he hasn't done it sooner?

Think it's not even bad for City if he hasn't handed it in yet. Arsenal will have to sell if he doesn't sign a new deal. As the end of the window gets closer, the more pressure there is on them to sell. They are not going to gamble on 40-50m for him plus wages. It's a losing gamble because Sanchez can easily sign a pre contract with another club in January.

Wenger is just a puppet, the Arsenal board knows that they have two options, Sanchez signs a new deal or he's sold. IMO Arsenal sell him to us and he "forces" the move.

Who told you he was going to hand a request in?

Watching Monaco now, Mbappe has done his knee, looks serious. He's going off.

Lemar looks decent but he'd be an oxlade chamberlain replacement, never a Sanchez. They don't even play in the same areas of the field.

When does the window close, end of August? Don't see that anything has changed. Only way he stays at Arsenal this summer is if he signs a new contract, otherwise he's off. You lot must be shite at poker.

You are right.
In practical terms he's already handed in a transfer request, by saying he wants to leave, and Arsenal rejected it by saying not this summer.

I do think there's a significant difference between telling your manager that you'd like to leave, and formally submitting a transfer request to the board.

I think Pep is experimenting with Sterling with Kun/Jesus as he knows getting another forward is in the balance. Strange that we let Kelechi go if that's the case so I'm hopeful.

Exactly.

Someone somewhere has been very naive if they thought this transfer would get done without us either putting a frigging bid in, or Sanchez handing in the request, lol.
