Him and his agent need to make it clear to vinegar face that he wont actually be much use to them "on the sporting side" if they force him to stay this season

We need to put a bid in sharpish. If we leave no time for Arsenal to sort a replacement, should they relent, they will have to keep Sanchez and let his contract run down. It will also leave us time to bring an alternative in.

I'm not Wenger - so can only speculate about what he means but the introduction of the word "compromise" - is probably significant. That's just my view however and may be wide of the mark and you could be correct and nothing has changed.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has played in this country for 5 years, how can you think he's a striker? He's an attacking midfielder and always plays behind a striker. He's not the solution to any problem we have.

Just asking,what odds does it make to Sanchez if he puts a request in ..i mean what's the reason for him not doing so,if he's told Wenger he wants to go already (if to be believed) ..then what odds does it make to make it public? He's gonna get shit from their fans either way isn't he ..don't get what's going on here,unless it's all part of a well laid plan between city/Pep/Sanchez ..fk knows

Not only that, he isn't as good as the ones we already have.

I agree. This was always going to drag on a bit but we are now reaching the stage where if it isn't sorted soon then Arsenal will keep him even though I suspect they would rather sell and have the money to reinvest.

But in this case, I think I prioritise the fact that he will be useful on the sporting side.”​

You lose a loyalty bonus, which I don't think he would be entitled to anyway.

It does not seem to be formulated in a way which will prevent him from changing his opinion later. Rather seems deliberately a little bit vague, hopefully to allow a graceful turn around before the end of transfer window.

Oh right ok makes sense thanks guys ..still,you'd think the money he's gonna make,that wouldn't really matter. Annoys me slightly considering (if to be believed) he wants to come. Yet that said,he's human ..and money is money I suppose

I still think he would have been a good option for us. We need to be able to mix it up especially against park the bus teams.

It is a softening of his position IMO. Talking about the need to balance finances and the football side of things and then essentially saying that he "thinks" he prioritises keeping him. Nothing to have stopped him saying that no matter what happens, they definitely won't sell him this summer even if it means losing him on a free next year, if that was the truth. But it probably isn't truth because it would be fucking stupidity to do that and he knows it.

He'll be a classic Bony signing. Looks great playing for midtable and lower sides, but the moment he makes a switch to a top 4 side, he'll fail. Stats say that he'll be great for us, but my eyes betray that feeling. I'm yet to see anything from him on the pitch that can convince me that he's in any shape or form a good option for us.

Who knows maybe Arsenal want to sell at the last minute. They are maybe using Sanchez to fund Lacazette with the timing conveniently off-set. The fall out will be limited if Sanchez leaves on 31st August with only limited post transfer deadline debate and a narrative of it was better to let him go etc. The most logical position for Arsenal to take at the outset would have been to sell Sanchez and auction him to the highest bidder - the player however, undermined this by effectively refusing moves to Bayern and PSG. The next most logical step would have been to sell to us and take us to the cleaners over the fee and reinvest it. The most illogical step is to keep an unhappy player and allow him to leave for free next summer in a squad where a number of other high profile players are running their contracts down - it's a recipe for disaster and Wenger knows that - he'd been creating a toxic dressing room. So the strategy (if you could call it that) seems to be to talk bull all summer and then do a last minute deal to get the £50m and probably avoid directly reinvesting the money - using it instead to offset earlier spending.
