16% says our striker isn't clinical enough.
Why is everyone in denial where Aguero is concerned.
Bizarre how opinions have changed over the Summer. There were a handful of fans who were commenting about his game last season, now after just 2 games there's many more

In my opinion, he's asked to do more running, from deeper, and come in from wider positions & support a lot more, (rather than being the focal point of the attack), which I don't think suits him, particularly now he's lost a bit of pace
He's still getting chances though, and I don't think he is being asked to come deeper, he is expected to press when it's in the top end of the pitch. He said last season he is still learning when to press and when to get into the box. The question isn't whether he is getting chances it's whether or not he is as prolific from the chances he gets.

Can't blame just Aguero for 16%, Silva, KDB , and Sterling must have brought our average down last season. That's why it's important to bring in goals from another position with Sanchez before we think about replacing 30 goals in Aguero.
We are missing goals from yaya and nasri, kev hardly scored last yr and dave is dave,it's a collective problem but sergio did his bit better than ever last year

Asking him to be a complete player is not asking too much of him. Closing out CBs and showing for his teammates is a core responsibility of being a striker. You aren't going to beat the best playing effectively with 10 men in bunches of scenarios.
Asking is one thing. Do you think he's actually capable of doing it though? You wouldn't ask an f1 Driver to pilot a 747

I for one am not in denial he is one of the best in the world and would walk into any team. But if you want to blame him and him alone carry on.

I wonder where we 2ould have ended up last season without his shit total of 30

Sergio and sanchez don't even play in the same position and sergio scores a lot more so we should have both
Tbf I think Pep has said he was wrong not to play Sanchez as a CF at Barca so I imagine if he does sign he'll play there more often than not.

I think it's far too late in the window for this to happen though anyway.

This, Sanchez will play with Aguero not replace him. Sanchez provides goals and assists from a wide position that will see Aguero and Jesus score more. Something Sterling and Sane can't yet do with the same consistency, but they have years ahead of them.

I know, and I agree completely. This league is stuffed to the gills with quick powerful opposition forwards, and any old hoof downfield has a better than average chance of finding them. We were up against a 19 year old kid on Monday with half a dozen starts to his name, yet he was able to beat our back 3 to every clearance and find himself near the corner of our 18 yard box time and time again. It's part of the reason we won't win anything under Pep unless he has a serious rethink.....which he won't. We are going to face 38 parked bus, counterattacking opponents this season, so something's got to give

Until proven otherwise, I still think the problem could be largely solved at the other end of the pitch. We are far too wasteful and that creates tension in the whole team and makes players more prone to errors and rash judgments.

The goal conceded to Everton was defend-able. Kompany dived in when he should not have and I think Fern did too; if we had been 2 up at that point, and we could have been, I don't think those players panic and quite possibly Sane deals with the ball he gave away more calmly.

I'm not convinced at all Pep needs to make a change in approach. Whether we need to buy another CB to make it work better, I'm not so certain and I would prefer us to buy a quality CB with pace now. I'd also like a new DM but I still think a striker is the priority. Put it this way, if we bought Messi, I think the CB debate would largely abate. Sanchez isn't Messi but he is probably the best possible option for now.

Everything started going downhill when we switched to the 4-3-3, especially for Aguero. Our record without Kun is the same as with him over a significant sample. It's all about chances.

That was completely laughable when we consistently played Navas on the right and Dave on the left. Did my head in every time. So frustrating.

That was at barca now he has sergio and gabby, sanchez is more of a winger who scores and creates which is not the same as an out and out striker

Not blaming anybody for anything. Look at his goals per game ratio. Tells you everything you need to know. He's in steady decline.
BTW he scored 20 in the prem.

As others have pointed out Aguero alone isn't responsible for missed chances, Silva hit the post, Sterling blazed over etc. Sanchez is a great player but if we get him I'm not convinced he would come in as an out and out striker, but a front 3 of Sanchez Aguero and Jesus should mean a lot of goals throughout the season. Fair enough Aguero like all strikers miss chances, but there's no striker in the league that doesn't and who is a better option?

KDB, Silva, Bernado etc all need to do their bit as well and we need a switched on, solid defence and keeper to cut out the counter attacking goals that keep on happening.
