Big few days for sanchez.. no longer able to say he's injured or ill so I think he will refuse to play at the weekend and turn the fans as some did with tevez.
If he chooses to part of the arsenal squad for their game it's over cos he's off for international duty an he 100% won't miss games for them.

I think we're reaching a bit now with claims it's always been Wengers plan to leave it until the last minute. Not quite on the scale of somebody's dad says it's done but still..

agreed! its in the next couple of days are never imo

We must must be confident of Gabby and Kun staying fit if one of them is out for a chunk of time oh oh...

£50m, £70m, £50m, £60m.. Keeps changing.

All bids being prepared for the past month or two.

All bids to be in by the end of the window, shocker! People putting their necks on the line there.

Utter shite at this point. Far too late now and come January he can talk to foreign clubs like PSG before us so he'll be gone before the summer practically.

Just put the money down if we want him. Instead of dragging things out. Unless Txiki is too busy agreeing to sell Bony for peanuts to Swansea despite their windfall.

I hope this is true but find it hard to fathom why Wenger would want to leave it til the last minute.

Arsenal are being run as a bit of a joke. Wenger has a lot of power because he has done what the board wanted and got them an income without spending too much on signings (through CL qualification).

Yes they have bought lacazette but theyre never really in for world class players despite their resources. The reason for that is surely that the board are doing a bit of a spurs and are happy to consolidate and make money. The later they leave it before selling sanchez the less time to sign a replacement. They then can tell the media all season that they didnt have time to replace him. The reality is theyre probably happy to cash in and not replace him at all. Money in the bank.

There has to be a reason arsenal are so shite in the transfer market and for me it goes beyond wenger, it is a simple case of not wanting to spend much.

don't forget negotiating hard for jonny fucking evens as well!!

I suspect this is another tactic. If we take him on a free transfer next summer it would probably make them more of a laughing stock than selling him this summer. Especially if they have a bad season anyway and lets be honest, if their early season form is anything to go by, then they won't be pulling up trees this season.

I don't think it's a mental or confidence based issue. If you played a team that attacked or went toe to toe with you, then the likes of Aguero would get plenty of space to run into and this is where he excels, playing off the shoulder, waiting for a threaded pass from Silva or KDB. Biggest problem you have is when teams set up to just defend and play 5 at the back. Aguero ends up shooting into a crowd of legs. Sanchez would be in the same boat in fairness. I think you need a bit more steal in attack, someone who can bully defenders, outrun, outjump and overpower them, or just win the ball and bring others into play. Without a plan B, it's fairly easy to set up a strategy to nullify the threat by crowding out your strikers. If you had someone like Costa sitting on the bench, it would be a game changer.

Not convinced we will get him. Its looking likely Arsenal will run down his contract.

I wonder who is the alternative. with 1 week to go its pretty hard to pull of a major transfer all of a sudden unless offered absolutely ludicrous cash.

Could we be stepping back from this one until next summer?

Guardiola is willing to wait until next summer and sign Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer should a deal not happen in the next week. [Mail]

Sounds like we havent even gone in with an improved offer yet?

Manchester City have not given up on signing Alexis Sanchez yet and are considering a £50m bid in the next week. [The Times]

Wenger has been adamant that Sanchez wouldn't be sold, I know he has made similar statements in the past, for other players, but this Summer is different, in that a large portion of the Arsenal fan-base wanted Wenger gone. He has to save face and at this point, the only thing I see changing the current impasse, is us slamming down an offer that cannot be refused. I expect that figure would be in the region of £80m. I don't think anyone, including Arsenal fans, would blame Wenger or the club, for selling at what is stupid money. Are we willing to go that high though?
