I get it that Arsenal want to sell abroad but when he made it clear he didn't want PSG or Bayern surely it should have been quite straightforward. And if Wenger was playing hardball a transfer request should have been put in.
Not really straightforward when there's the little matter of one year left on his contract.

can't see monaco selling if mbappe goes
I saw something about a deal that includes a loan back to Monaco for this season, but I don't remember the source or what its credibility would be. Seems like a compensatory move to cover for Lemar leaving. Monaco have also signed Jovetic as well to potentially add more cover up front.

if true ridiculous for a player who will be 30 at Christmas, we should be buying youthfull players not 30 years olds who we dont even need

Perhaps the youthful players aren't at the level which Pep wants at this moment in time ?

Paul Joyce says Naby Kieta is signing for LFC but won't join until next year. He's usually spot on where they are concerned.

Why? They are developing/selling club, like BvB. If Pool get a sh*tload of money from Coutinho's sale, they'll make an good offer that Monaco wouldn't refuse.

They probably are now, specially after success they are having this summer, but there is no prior history with this owner they are indeed developing club, it's just when he lost billions on stock market that he moved away from buying expensive players like Falcao, Coutinho etc.. he started with similar model like us and PSG. it's first season when they are having a sale of their young prospects.

They might sell if offer is right though, 74m quoted is not small money. But I'm not sure it's smart idea to sell any good young player from the team, it's only their success in CL and league last year that pumped the price for all their players, without it they would getting nowhere near the money they are getting now.

If the job of goalscorer was so important that everything rests on it, as some are suggesting, he would have already signed somebody else.

He just fancys having Sanchez.

Or the addition of a goalscorer is vital but he's had his heart set on Sanchez and was happy for it to play out rather than risk missing out on his number one choice because of panicking when it got to August and he hadn't signed him yet.

Really hope we sign Sanchez before the window closes. If you think the league's tough this season, next season's gonna blow everyone's mind. Liverpool have just signed Keita for 2018. Lemar bid is on the way. That's a scary good team. Spurs have strengthened massively with Davinson Sanchez and the imminent signing of Aurier. United already pretty balanced in all areas except LB perhaps. Chelsea are frighteningly good though they don't have depth. We're still missing a LB, CB, DM/CM and a forward.

If it was that vital he would have signed someone else, & for enormous money if necessary.

He knows Sanchez & fancys having him. Not even as a striker imo.

Why? If he was always confident that Sanchez would arrive why would he chicken out and sign someone else?

From what Tolmie has said (as well as Sam Lee and Mullock) the club has always been confident of the Sanchez deal happening eventually.
